OXJAM NORTHAMPTON IN 2008!
This year was a good year for Oxjam all over the country, lots went on. Notably two really ace events took place in Northampton.
The Oxjam event at The Picturedrome, Northampton, was an amazing success. Organised by University Northampton Marketing students; Vicky, Helen, Laura, Jenny & Monika, they all managed to raise a massive £728.31!!! Tremendous achievement, so WELL DONE to them for coordinating this event.
The amount raised included ticket sales as well as clothes, badges, and other random things! Thanks to the extra volunteers who managed the stalls, you certainly did raise a lot there!
Brilliant night it was and the atmosphere was amazing with over 200 of you attending, many thanks to all those who took part including the bands, Half Day Closing, Second Son & Dirty Sweet, all played excellent sets and looked after well by sound engineers James Cox & Steve Wakeman.
Lots of pictures and videos was taken, so they will be up as soon as possible,
bare with us, if you have Facebook go here and join the group where you will
also see highlights of how it went: Lots of pictures and videos was taken.
Then in October, on the 26th, Euan Kitson & Elliot Bannister were back for another installment at the Roadmender. To follow up from last years achievements where they collectively raised £2600, they raised the bar to aim for £3000 which I pleased to say they did. This was a really big event where approx 500 attended and some marvelous musicians played:
Luke Leighfield, The Retro Spankees, The Pepper Box, Flawed, The Outsiders, The Bromptons, Cityscape, The Nicola Janes, The Mimijajas, Cutout Blonde, Volcanoes
There was acoustic's: Tom Craven, Joe Woolley, Fred Claridge, Euan Kitson, Daisy Mercedes, Katie Malco, Line and a Dot, Isabelle
Humor from the following: James Acaster, Ben Briggs & Jake Moore
Once again, thanks to everyone for supporting these events, certainly will make a big difference for Oxfam.

Many thanks again to everyone who took part, its was truly amazing this year!
Combining all events that happened in Northampton, collectively out of the 9 events on the calender we raised about 4k. Quite an achievement by ordinary people with ordinary lives, this is awesome in my view, most of it much thanks to Elliot Bannister, super trooper who pulled off a big day on the 21st Oct. Many thanks to everyone else who got stuck in and got involved, you guys made it happen, and hopefully next year we can smash it.
What's Oxjam?
Along with many other individuals around the country we were holding a number
of music events to help raise money for the charity organisation Oxfam. Called
"Oxjam", the aim was to successfully promote and run a massive amount
of events like no other. It was like no other, I feel we succeeded, we helped
alot of poeple! We have started the Oxjam Northampton organization, which is
designed to network with dozens more around the country.
Already we have worked with some of the best promoters in Northampton as well as musicians. To make next year even bigger, we want to recruit more individuals to help out. There so much planning to do and so much experience to gain. Already we have inspired people to do more and have given a boost of confidence that the skys the limit, anythings possible. The Oxjam Northampton calender was filled with many events reflecting the current music scene, therefore we showcased some of the best indie, rock and alternative music.
What’s it all for?
Oxjam is about raising money to fight poverty all over the world. You’ll
be helping people to earn a living; to get an education; health care; fresh
water; to grow more food..... The message from Oxjam is simple:....
MAKE MUSIC ~ RAISE MONEY
END POVERTY
