Oxjam is Oxfam's most ambitious music event ever. We are asking musicians, promoters - in fact, everyone - to get together in April to make music, raise money and help end poverty.
From classical to club night, folk, funk and punk - it all adds up to one huge, UK-wide, Oxjam festival - raising hundreds of thousands of pounds to fight poverty. Whether you sing, scratch or strum, you’ll be joining some of the biggest names in music in the Oxjam line-up.
You don’t need a big venue - the beauty of Oxjam is that hundreds of small events make one huge party. And you make it happen.
What will you do?
Who I'd like to meet: Oxjam needs YOU!
At the moment Oxjam is looking primarily for Music Event Organisers, but we will also need lots of support to make Oxjam a massive success. So, if you can give some of your time to contribute to artwork, can organise a venue for us, help with gaining media coverage or if you can provide support in any other way then please get in touch!

OXJAM AT THE TAP'N'TIN - 16 JUNE 2007
The first Oxjam Medway event of 2007 was a great success and we raised over £500, which is brillant news! I would like to thank Dan for all of his hard work in organising the event and all of the musicians for giving up their time to raise awareness about Oxjam and helping us collect so much money to contribute to Oxfam's work around the world.
Oxjam kicks off on the 1st of APRIL 2008 (no joke!) and continues for the whole rocking month.
So whatever music you're into, from folk to funk, rock to rave we hope that you’ll want to take part in Oxjam in April and organise a music event (it doesn’t matter how small) to raise money and help end poverty with Oxjam. It’s really easy and fun to do. You can download a toolkit and loads of other online resources, and get in touch with the Oxjam Team at www.oxfam.org.uk/oxjam.
Cyclone Sidr in Bangladesh has killed more than 3,000 people so far, leaving millions without a home.
Oxfam is there providing immediate relief to over 80,000 people - and you can help us.
- Organise or tag an existing music event in your area to help raise money for the appeal. You can set up an Oxfam just giving page to donate to the appeal.
- Show your support by joining the Facebook group 'Help those hit by Bangladesh cyclone' here : and spread the word by sending out an invitation to all of your friends.
Thanks for all your brilliant support in Oxjam 2007, with your help we are able to get closer to overcoming poverty and suffering.
To say thank you we have sent you a little congratulations gold disk. Please feel free to pass it on to Musicians, venues and any others you worked with this year.

We need as many cities as possible to get onboard and run a Buskathon this year. It's simple to setup and free to run, but the best thing is that anyone can signup to play! More info and tips on how to run the event are available here. We've got lots of support to offer and all Buskathons will be promoted throughout the UK.
You are doing a great job and if you ever need us to help out with a gig just give us a shout.
We are a new Band from Medway just starting to attract a fair bit of local interest, We were in a few local papers last week and played a double gig on Saturday, First at The River Festival Maidstone then onto The Command House, Chatham.
We've teamed up with our friends at XFM to offer a total of 50,000 big ones to help you put on your Oxjam event this October. We'll be providing 200 Oxjam event organisers with 250 quid each towards the cost of putting on their event, meaning that you'll be able to raise even more to help fight poverty around the world. Even better, the artists who perform at the 200 XFM Oxjam shows will also have the chance to be featured on XFM.
How to apply:
All you have to do is let us know all about the event you're planning here. You can apply until 18 August, at which point we'll get together with XFM and pick out 200 fantastic events that we can help to make even better!
v from whom the funding for this partnership comes, only operate within England, so the XFM offer is open to events taking place in England. If you're from Scotland, Wales or Ireland, though, there are still plenty of reasons to get involved in Oxjam, not least the chance to get the artists who play your event onto MTV - check it out at MTV website..
