The Oyster Murders are an alternative rock band from Australia. The band's name is a reference to a scene in the book, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland ". The Oyster Murders consists of Shaun Edwards on drums, Ian Stokley on bass/synth and Grant Redgen on guitar and vocals.
In late 2008 the group independently released their self titled debut EP. The band produced half the record themselves and co-produced the other half with Raf Mikolajczyk of fellow Australian band Mikowai. This record was well received within the Australian local scene, where the band held top ten spots for most played release on 4ZzZ FM radio and gained favourable airplay on other local stations. Rave magazine described the band's first release as the "extended play love child of Radiohead and Interpol".
In recent times the bands music has been turning up on underground stations in the UK and various college radio stations in the States. In February 2009 the band released three new songs which they stated is a prelude to a larger body of work that is currently underway. In a recent interview with Scene Magazine, Grant elaborated on the upcoming albums direction by saying that "the band has been listening to a lot of Beatles and Sonic Youth of late, so you can expect a possible post apocalyptic Strawberry Fields vibe with some of the newer material".
