Oz City made a name for itself with it’s bi-monthly Oz City Song Circle that started in 2005 in Hollywood. The events were supported by the Australian Government's Australian Music Office, APRA (Australian Performing Right Association), ADVANCE (Australian Global Professionals), American Australian Association, & AILA (Australians In L.A).
Oz City brings Australian Songwriters and Composers together, as well as gives them a platform to perform their original songs in an unplugged setting to fans and industry alike in the L.A and N.Y music scenes. The Song Circle shows started at ‘Genghis Cohen’ and were so well attended were moved to a larger venue - ‘The Mint’ after 6 months. The nights are a mix of established and up and coming singer/songwriters and bands, 4 acts on stage together, playing their best 3 original songs. The 75 minute showcase quickly attracted interest from industry looking for new talent because of it’s short and sweet nature.
Featured artists have included Australian Idol winner Natalie Gauci, MiG Ayesa (Rock Star: INXS finalist), Tex Perkins and the Beasts of Bourbon, Cameron Daddo, Aya Larkin (Skunkhour), Fiona Kernaghan, Tyrone Noonan (George), and Porcelain.
The brand spanking new 'Oz City Viper Room Series' now gives performers a chance to plug the amps in and blast out an entire set at The Viper Room on Sunset Strip. Industry can now see these bands in full flight as well as in the unplugged format downstairs at the Viper Room at the same event.
We are seeking supporters and sponsors to get behind these events that will be quarterly at The Viper Room. Our first of the series on April 30 kicked arse with Coopers Beer flowing from the bar and all the bands playing to a packed house.
