"Baby Song"

1994, back in Ottawa to visit my Aunt and her family, I saw this picture in Our Lady of Assumption Church: a baby inside his/her mother's womb. The baby has legs, hands, sucking his/her tiny thumbs, eyes like dots. How lovely. Below the picture it says: "this is a baby who is about to be aborted, just a few weeks after conception". I am grateful and I thank my Mom for allowing me to be born. These days, there are many people who died without a proper funeral, others think they never existed; they don't even have a name. I guess we are the lucky allowed-to-be-born ones..... It took me 2.5 years to finish recording this song, special thanks to Au Sok who played bass in this piece. 1997, Argued with my best friend about this song, we really shouted at each other. He proclaimed from his up-bringing that we should learn from ants, he said birth control and abortion are about sacrificing for the great motherland.....I guess I don't want to be an Ant. Everybody is unique and has feelings here. Afterall, we are still best friends. I guess rules are made for the love of human lives however young we might be. Freedom comes with responsibility. That says it all. .. ..

"Dinning Table"

.. .. .. .. .. I wrote this song in 1993, very primitive stuff...... Way back when I was a child, we had 8 people and a dog living in the same apartment, when it comes to dinner time, the table is so full: every night, love and joy. Every night when my parents and relatives got off from work, we'd have dinner together. The feeling was so secure, it was about unspoken love and trust. Recorded sometime in 1997 in Kingston with my 4-track, the tone was too muddy... Hope I can do something about it in the future.

"Cool Now"

Written in 1995, this song was my therapy. I was back in HK, wandering the streets everyday like a zombie, drifting in memories and endless scenes where I used to enjoy so much. I just drifted away from God. I've learned anyways. Back in Kingston, Ontario, I started to record this piece. I remember I was a little carried away thanks to the beer. After a few months I realized that the guitars were crying for me in the song, they were crying for me. That's it, what a companion. I woke up. I decided to go to Africa to see God and reconcile with Him. It was 1996. 1997 Vancouver, I wrote a letter telling her that I have whole-heartedly forgiven her. It was true forgiveness that cured my pain. Thanks God for showing me the way in a Youth Bible sharing session in Markham, Toronto. She was relieved with joy too. Forgiveness is so powerful and it's a gift. Anyways, "cool now" was a therapy to my darker hours but forgiveness was the complete healer. I've learned anyways.
