Interesting story in that this gun served in both WW1 and WW2. Colt 1911s were issued in Panama on Dec 7, 1941 to all the Army servicemen. Upon returning the pistols to the armory, all but two returned and the two missing were written off the books. Later on, the two guns were returned but since they no longer existed on paper, two guys in the armory took them home. This pistol is one of those two pistols and he guy that now owns it bought it from the guy that worked in that Panamanian armory.
