"I must learn to love the fool in me-- the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries.”
-Theodore Rubin
Music
too many to name, but here are a few: Stevie Wonder. Rilo Kiley. Imogen Heap. Colpdplay. Bob Marley. old Dave Matthews. Frou-Frou. Feist. Massive Attack. Sigur Ros. David Gray. Death Cab. Amos Lee. The Killers. Norah Jones. Radiohead. Jack Johnson. Postal Service. Scissor Sisters. My Morning Jacket. Aerosmith. Bob Dylan. Otis Redding. Beastie Boys. U2...and i definitely love the oldies and ABBA.
Movies
I am a film junkie, so it's hard to narrow down. I love all things Fellini and Kubrick...and I have a weird thing for documentaries and war movies. For sure, Mel Brooks and Christopher Guest are comic genius. I mean, 'Best in Show'?? Seriously, it doesn't get any better.
Television
I'm not a regular TV watcher, but these are my guilty pleasures: Sex and the City. Weeds, Reno 911! Family Guy. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I am also turned on (yes, in a sexual way) by The Colbert Report, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Conan O'Brien and BBC News. Al-Jazeera English has phenomenal news coverage (don't argue this point with me unless you've actually watched)
Books
I love, love, LOVE to read and I try to diversify as much as possible, so it's impossible to name favorites. But here's what is currently on my nightstand:
The Shrine of Jeffrey Dahmer
The Drunkard's Walk: How Randomness Rules Our Lives
Heroes
Define "hero"? Sometimes, it takes a heroic effort just to get out of bed and face the world. Sometimes, it means rescuing people from burning buildings. That being said, I admire people who live fearlessly...who dive headfirst into life and really, truly swim in it. It's harder than you might think to find people like that- the heroes in my book.
About me: I have a natural affinity for parallel parking, spelling and putting my foot in my mouth. I am trying to convince the Universe that the laws of physics should not apply to me. On my daily drive to work, I listen to Earth, Wind & Fire Greatest Hits Volume 1. My expensive addictions include traveling, live music shows and Chanel perfume. I inherited my father's quick wit & humor, but my mother's poor sense of direction. I LOVE: laughing so hard that I cry, the beach, all things Dutch, the outdoors, world travel, photography, breakfast/brunch,learning, trying new things, my Mac PowerBook, helping people, being active, Africa and beers of the world.
