Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Pachi Pamwe (Shona for 'together again') infuses traditional Zimbabwean mbira (thumb piano) music with their own poetry and American culture, creating a rich sound that is both soothing and energetic.
Mainly performing as a duet, Pachi Pamwe uses mbira and acoustic guitar to create a lush bed of invigorating yet relaxing textures. Occaisionally performing as a quartet, two seasoned mbira players meld forces with bass, drums, and trumpet to provide hypnotic and danceable interlocking soundscapes combining ancient and modern instruments and styles.
Vocals are sung in Shona (main language of Zimbabwe) and English. Pachi Pamwe will enliven your spirit with its unique Zimbabwelectric sound.

Heh Heh, yeah that was funny... i don't know if he was trying to shut us down or what? I think we threw him for a loop or something, cuz he was trying to shut us down, it seemed, but you woulda had to take the mic from me to get me to stop, what with my bros from Bongo Love tearing it up on the dance floor. There are no rules in music, and to me it's all about expression. Honor the tradition and move forward with the times. I think both can be done simultaneously. What a reaction though, eh?! So much fun.
