The Pacifica Islanders football family is playing this Saturdays game to honor Judy Burke who is currently battling breast cancer.

The Islanders have used pink tape to wrap this evening in an effort to bring this disease to everyone’s attention and to show our solidarity against this disease.

Judy is not alone in her battle, one in every eight women in the United States develops breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes. About 178,480 women in the United States will be found to have invasive breast cancer this year alone.

These women are our mothers, daughters and wives. We must stop this disease. The Islanders appreciate your support in this fight.
For more info on breast cancer and how you can help please visit www.nationalbreastcancer.org or www.breastcancerawareness.com

Thank you from the Islander Nation!

The Pacifica Islanders and the California All-Stars
will face off in "Winter Bowl 2008" on December 6th

The Pacifica Islanders will play host to the California All-Stars at Terra Nova High School in "Winter Bowl 2008". The Islanders are the 2008 MLFA Spring National Champions and are very excited about playing the all star team made up of players from different teams throughout the state. The team also looks forward to their first action at the newly renovated Tiger Stadium. "We plan to have a great show for the fans at our debut game in Pacifica" stated Brian Martinez team president. "At half time we have invited all bay area youth football organizations to be honored during a special presentation and we will have Columbia recording artist and pop star "Merna" performing the National Anthem". All youth players honored at half time will receive a gift bag of goodies made possible by local businesses.

The date was originally scheduled to be the 2008 spring/fall state championship against the LCFL Champion San Diego Thunder. Due to key injuries to the Thunder at the NAFL Fall National Championship game the state championship has been postponed. The Islanders would like to apologize for anyone who seen the posters advertising the state championship game but promise to put on a great game for all.

The Islanders invite all football fans to come be part of this inaugural event on December 6th with a 6:00pm kickoff. Admission is $10 for adults $5 children 12 and under and as always honor roll students are free with recent report cards.
