About Packhorse Leeds - Gigs

welcome to my lovely horse.

book the lovely horse for a gig.

the easiest way to be heard in the horse is to put a line up together yourself and then hire our band room for the princely sum of £10.

although we do put gigs on ourselves, it's very dificult to listen to everybody who gets in touch with us. the price does not include the PA. however, if you call to book our venue we can put you in touch with the lovely alex, who does the sound for the majority of the gigs here.

we also ask for a £25 deposit, which is returned to you as long as the room is not smashed up and you adhere to our rules i.e. no under 18s, no drinking your own sneaked in booze and also making sure the bands finish no later than 11pm or we breach our license which could mean we lose it and gigs at the horse will be no more!!!

Music Transfer Protocol	Aug 19 2008 10:55 PM Les Sons du Nord returns to the UK! An exchange programme of sorts between Northern France, Belgium and Sheffield established since 2006. The event takes over the excellent Shakespeare pub, Gibraltar Street, Sheffield, from the 28th - 30th August. Expect top bands, amazing sausages and nice booze. Sheffield is represented by Nat Johnson, Champion Kickboxer, the Yell, Yo-Yo Static and Rotary Ten whilst Curry & Coco, Frank Shinobi, Soy un Cabalo and the Appleseeds cross the channel.
Forest of Sound	Aug 8 2008 12:31 PM This is going to be amazing - two days of fantastic music on a beautiful site in the Lake District overlooking the southern shores of Lake Windermere, with a selection of excellent bands as chosen by us and the lovely people at Fell Foot Wood. Passes for music and camping are a bargain at £16 per person for the weekend or £9 per day (vehicles are £2 per extra per night). Bookings with card payment must be made in advance by calling Barry at Fell Foot Wood on 015395 31014. Spaces are limited to 170 campers so early booking is advised. Forest of Sound	Jul 17 2008 12:48 PM For this Forest of Sound we’re getting together with our good friends at Misplaced Music to celebrate the release of Gareth S. Brown’s new album, The Gallows on Misplaced Music (order here). Bracken makes simply stunning music - walls of ambient sound, dark dub bass and atmospheres, destroyed and re-claimed found sound, beats that range from over-powering to perfectly understated. Gareth S. Brown creates gorgeous work of layered beauty with nods towards Philip Glass, Terry Riley and Michael Nyman as well as latter day travellers such as Max Richter, Yann Tiersen and Aphex Twin. Sketches for Albinos makes a sound that manages to be both truly heartfelt and organic, but also encompassing the majestic glacial soundscapes that would make the likes of Tim Hecker or Fennesz proud. The Declining Winter are a new musical project, led by Richard Adams, the co-founder of Domino Records group Hood, and is influenced by the music of Low, The Durutti Column, Songs of Green Pheasant and more.
