Okay people, seriously... I'm starting to regret that I ever took part in passing on this bit about Kathy Lee Gifford having referred to pagans as "nasty" and "bad".
We all know I'm as pagan as they come (and love love LOVE it) and that I generally take offense to anyone, especially known members of the Christian right, referring to my religion or members of it in negative terms or intentionally spreading false information about it/us. But this bit with Kathy Lee is getting stupid.
First of all, the ONLY people I've heard talking about it are pagans who are pissed off that she said it and said it on national TV. Pissed off pagans who are talking themselves blue in the face and typing their fingers off about how Kathy Lee Gifford has damaged us and we need to fight back by signing some stupid petition requesting an apology, as if that's going to fix or change a goddamned thing.
Yes, I reposted the links to the video and the petition here on myspace. But I didn't email them around and I sure as hell didn't sign the petition.
Why?
1. Like I said, pagans are the ONLY people I've heard talking about this. No one has treated me different or referenced anything that old hag pretending to be 20-something since she called ANCIENT PAGANS nasty and bad on Tuesday morning.
2. It's Kathy Lee fucking Gifford people, Jesus Christ.
Who the hell actually pays attention to anything she has to say anymore?
3. By passing it around, talking about it and posting bulletins about it every fucking place we can find a spot for it, all we do is bring more attention to it which raises the likelihood that people who are ignorant anyway will go look just so they can say they have one more person on their team, and makes us look like a bunch of whining, overreacting pussies. How many of you have ever heard me use the word pussy before when not referring to a cat? Good, this should mean something to you.
