good bands and how they got that way...and my chainsaw.
  • Music

My taste and opinion are good indicators as to what a difficult individual I am. Okay, actually, I need to let you musicians know my personal preference is Americana, rock, folk, and songwriting in particular. Take a good look at my friends list, you'll get the idea - especially the top 10. That's not to say that I won't listen and try to be open minded...on a god day. I especially want to encourage any of you just starting out.

About me:

this page is for the radio show: Paging Michael Ellis on WBOR 91.1 and wbor.org - Friday mornings at 7 a.m. it features Maine songwriters and bands, live listings, stories, interviews, and live in studio performances. the player on myspace does not work on the WBOR studio computer - therefore, I need the good old fashion CDs to spin, by hand, personally at the station when I do my show of 'local' 'signed and unsigned Maine songwriters and bands. Call and write your friends and have them mail me their CD: Paging Michael Ellis c/o P.O. Box 144 Damariscotta, ME 04543 and tell your friends, I will plug their gigs too.

Who I'd like to meet:

Considering starting a new band... or to join an existing band I can handle that wouldn't outright suck - but what are the chances? Or a new local band that I would like, and who needs a booking agent...

      Hey, Mike!

Sorry to have missed you!  I felt bad that I didn't make it to work before 8:55 this morning, but it's OK, I guess, being as you weren't on today.  I'm going to make it a regular Friday thing to get to work way early on Fridays so I can stream you here.

Looking forward to the Woody special!

As a matter of fact, I think I will be up in Maine in a couple weeks - with any luck I'll be able to make it to Luke's show at the Waldo, depending on when I have to be back in NYC for work...

With the time difference I can actually listen to you as I'm getting ready for work.
    Sweet!

I'd say so... since they're using clips of it on their new ads.

Mr Neutron: Mrs S, there is something I have to tell you...

    Mrs Scum: Yes, Mr N?

Mr Neutron: I have just won a Kellogg's Corn Flake Competition.

Mrs Scum: Oh Mr N! That's wonderful!

Mr Neutron: I got the ball in exactly the right place· The prize is £5,000 in cash, or as much ice cream as you can eat.

(Her eyes go round as saucers and all thoughts of returning to her marital bed vanish under the impact of such imminent wealth.
    )

    Mrs Scum: £5,000!

Mr Neutron: I was thinking of taking the ice cream.

    Mrs Scum: (alarmed) Oh no!

Mr Neutron: It's been so hot recently.

Mrs Scum: You couldn't eat that much ice cream Mr N.

Mr Neutron: Mrs S, I can eat enormous quantifies of ice cream without being sick.

    To lighten up your day!

    Cheers,
    Luke

Hey Josh! Good to hear from you - I've been super busy lately. I've challenged myself to write and record an album during the month of February - it's pretty interesting.

I was sorry I couldn't be in Maine for Luke's show - his gig in NYC was pretty excellent.

    How are things up north?

    For one thing...

Have you converted the Hi8 to something that will be able to be read by digital (through firewire)?

    Cheers,

I'm finally getting back to you (busy month!) So glad you were able to come down, it was really excellent to see you guys-it had been far too long. Plus you guys sounded great! I keep meaning to send you my non-synth pop demos, I gave a copy to luke awhile back-you should give me your address so I can mail a cd!
