The band PainStorm was founded in 1999 by two brothers, Ercole Pancrazio and Angelo Emanuele Buccolieri, respectively the band's drummer and rhythmic guitarist/singer.
After Giuseppe Maruccia joined the line up as bass guitarist, the three members proceeded to rehearse periodically and to write their own songs. But soon they realized the feeling was not the right one, and Giuseppe gave up.
During the summer, "MAGMA" (the original band's monicker) found a guitarist, Vincenzo Valletta, and they performed live for the first time. But then Vincenzo decided to give up.
After this event, the band started to think itself as a real band.
The bass guitarist Massimiliano DiMauro joined in, and the three members collaborated on the writing of the first two songs: "Kill All Your Fear" and "Masters Of The Truth".
The band then performed live for the second time in San Donaci (Le).
The three made progress a lot in that period, thanks also to the further techical support offered by Giuseppe (guitarist); so they planned to record a pre-demo just to know what people thought about their music.
The result was a good appreciation; but the band realized that Massimiliano DiMauro had a few time to spend with music, and the bass guitarist Giuseppe Maruccia came back in the line up.
They wrote then "Welcome To My Fucked Up World", a very fast song which received a great feedback from people, during the first band's mini-tour.
In this period, the monicker "Magma" changed in "PAINSTORM".
In January 2003, Enrico Pertoso officially joined the band as solo-guitarist.
With the new four-members line up, the band finished a new song ("Near The Doors Of Hell") and then proceeded recording the first Demo cd: "Welcome".
In 2004 Giuseppe Maruccia left the band definitevely, because of musical differences. In December 2006, after a few concerts with several bass guitarists like Andrea Gaeta and Stefano, Emma Argentieri officially joined the line up as bass guitarist.
During the summer, PainStorm performed live in a few concerts; among these, the most significant one was at the 5° South's Cheyenne in Torricella (TA).
In August 2007 the band came back in the studio with the aim to record the three songs of the new "Promo 2007": "Conscience Of A Sinner", "My Mistakes" and the atypical "Joy (Another Soul)".
This new work had a reasonable success among the public, and encouraged new live concerts even outside Apulia, like in Messina (Sicily) or Matera.
Particularly, after a great performance at "El Royo Pub" in Alezio (LE), the band was chosen to play for Paul Di'Anno (with Ashram, from Apulia too). Because of external technical problems, however, Paul Di'Anno's concert was substituted with the "Datevi Fuoco Tour 2008" of Pino Scotto, and the band was chosen again to play for the italian singer.
From March 2008 PainStorm belong to the roster of Alkemist-Fanatix-Europe (Management and Promotion Agency): the aim is to record the first full-length working collaboratively with the Agency, in order to make a further step forward.
