'Painting by Numbers' is Lorri and Johnny (Art Student and Trainee Accountant, respectively) venturing into the ethical side of gig promotion.
Based in Dundee, it's a nightmare waiting on some of your favourite bands and acts coming to town so we both considered putting on a night of Scottish talent we both admire.
This was a great success and as such we've decided to put on more Summer nights in 2007 and continue the fun and joys of putting on a gig (said completely non-sarcastically)!
We try to keep our bands happy with food and jovial conversation and proceeds from the gig are split between the bands after costs are covered. We aren't a profit seeking duo, we don't really do the work or the entertainment!
We really were shocked how fun and simple it is to put on a good night for all, you should try it too.
If you are a band or a label give us a wee message and we will be glad to help. If we can't put you on we may know somebody who can

"We are writing the history of 2007. For over a decade, as TOMCRAFT, 'Thomas Brückner' has been an important part of today’s electronic music scene and one of its most highly regarded ambassadors in foreign countries near and far. If you wanted to sum up TOMCRAFT’s life in recent years in a couple of lines, they would look something like this: three albums, two of his own labels, dozens of successful singles, a No. 1 hit in the UK, countless remixes for acts such as Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Simple Minds, Sonique and many more.
His recognised hit “Loneliness” that was released in 2002 may have been responsible in part for this when it shot straight to pole position in the British sales charts. With recognised status in the bag and his constant search for higher levels in his mind, in October 2003 TOMCRAFT set up his first independent label, Great Stuff Recordings, followed by Craft Music in 2005, on which national and international acts such as GusGus, The Egg, Rockers Hi-Fi, Lützenkirchen and Oliver Koletzki released records and the imprint with its high-quality tunes which went on to become one of the most popular in the world in the shortest possible time. The range is as varied and open-minded here as with TOMCRAFT himself, and in this way the one-time trancer has long

After the success of the Science with a Big See competition, Cinema With a Big See is going Scotlandwide, online and open to films of all kinds.
In association with TayScreen, sponsor, Dundee Prototypical Simulations is working with Scotland’s own YouTube, ScotVid.com and this time there’ll be four prizes up for grabs – a total of £2,000.
Anyone over the age of 16 and based in Scotland can submit an entry in the general or science categories, as either an amateur or professional film-maker.
And it’s a great chance for film-makers to get their work in front of judges like top UK promo producer Simon PoonTip, whose company works with bands like Candi Payne and the View.
The closing date for entries is Friday, 1st February 2008. Go to ScotVid.com for more information or to submit an entry.
Sorry, only open to entrants resident in Scotland. But if that means you’re excluded, why not move north of the border to work or study. Come and find out why everyone is talking about Dundee.
