"Taking a brief break from their bid for disco pop domination as Detox Cute and the Beauty Junkies whose ‘Alarm Bells’ (a video to which you can see on www.myspace.com/detoxcuteandthebeautyjunkies) still causes much fluttering of the heart in our gaff dressed as it with all manner of sweetly tingling St Etienne (second mention this missive incidentally) styled 60’s demurring, both Paisley and Charlie apply their enviable pop chemistry and redirect their sights and sounds to something more readily late 60’s west coast based.
Embracing similar territories current being explored by the likes of the Heartstrings and the near perfect High Wire, Paisley and Charlie take a peak behind the melodic magicians curtain to grab the ingredients for an enchanting musical flashback to a time readily more timeless and innocent.
Incorporating elements of early career Belle and Sebastian, Free Design, Brigadier, Ashley Parks and Trembling Blue Stars the duo create a deliciously affectionate brew of lovelorn lilts and caress laced streamlined symphonies that weave and woo between the song crafting sculpturing of both Bacharach and Van Dyke Parks.
From the softly stirred star lit orbiting overtures of the achingly forlorn ’Stars’ to the Strawberry Switchblade meets Dubstar shy eyed pop dynamo that is ‘Pale Blue’ though for us best moment by some distance is the teasingly tingling string swept ’Sebastian’ with its delicately woven key flurries, alluring Autumnal pastel tinged hues and utterly heart hurting introspection which to us sounds like a crestfallen blend of China Crisis and Aztec Camera.
Mind you ’My Secret Life’ isn’t half bad either. Records are what we need though - ones to watch for in whatever form they deem to take."

Taking a break from our E-Pop campaign with 'Detox Cute and the Beauty Junkies,' we left our bedsit, borrowed Paul Bevoir's magical balloon and, after a quick stop at the Disco At The End Of The Universe, went on a fantastic trip to the 60's.
While we were there we said "hello" to Cilla and Cliff, watched 'Darling' and 'Billy Liar' with Julie Christie - 'Please Sir' with the Fenn Street Gang - rubbed shoulders with 'the Double Deckers' and generally had a wonderful time.
While we there wrote and recorded some new songs, altogether rather more mellow than our Detox Cute 'Pop/Trash' sound, which reflect the relaxed and easy-going surroundings we found ourselves in.
After all, back in the 60's there was no-one there hassling us at the bedsit for rent, Paul and Mickey were always popping in for tea and the United Kingdom somehow kept doing well in the Eurovision song contest! Ah, those indeed, were the days!
Anyway, we've posted our efforts up here. So come on, come to the party, come to the dance :-)
