| General | spending time with my boys, reading when I have time, writing, scrapbooking, shopping, photography, home improvement stuff, singing, acting and theatre-going, swimming, hanging out on the beach, playing the piano, nurturing my Guitar Hero addiction...
| | Music | I can appreciate most anything except country and rap, but I specifically like showtunes, contemporary Christian, classical, 80's (even the stuff that was bad then, it's all good on a nostalgic level), 90's alternative (Pearl Jam, Live, Chili Peppers, etc) - anything that takes me back to my academy and undergrad days... My favorite musicals are Chess, The Sound of Music, Phantom, Les Mis, Hair, Grease, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. | | Movies | My favorite movie is Dangerous Liaisons...other favorites include The Sound of Music, The Princess Bride, Moulin Rouge, Hair, The Notebook, Legends of the Fall, Hair, Grease, Dirty Dancing (nobody puts Baby in the corner), The Breakfast Club, Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, O Brother Where Art Thou, Hoosiers (I am from Indiana)and the list goes on... | | Television | Survivor and American Idol are my favorites. I know I'm too old to like the latter, but whatever, dude! Also, My Name is Earl, The Office, What Not To Wear, CSI, The Colbert Report, Recently, thanks to my officemate, I have come to appreciate 30 Rock. And I'm a sucker for a re-run of Seinfeld...can't think of anything else. I'm really not the biggest TV fan unless I'm riding my exercise bike, and then I gotta have something to watch. | | Books | Being a librarian, you could say I like books. Some of my all-time favorite books are "The Secret Garden," "Walk Two Moons," "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings," "The Lady and the Unicorn" and "Girl With a Pearl Earring." I'm currently reading The Onion's Big Dumb World book, which is amusing, but right now I'm in the Africa section which is kind of a downer :( | | Heroes | My mom...from whom I got the "Grimes Work Ethic," and my dad from whom I got a lot of other skills that come in handy as a librarian, such as having an "organized mind."
My friend Chris for being a great single mom to three kids, two of which are terminally ill. Her dedication to them and energy never cease to amaze me!

About me:
I reign over a small kingdom of males, including my 3 handsome sons Tristan, Jordan and Kadan. For my day job, I'm a reference and instruction librarian, which means that I teach people how to find and use information. It doesn't sound that glamorous, but my alter-ego is a Broadway-singing diva, so I think it makes for a somewhat interesting combo. Other stuff...I'm a perfectionist and a bit melodramatic, but in an endearing way. I hope ;) My boys all inherited my dramatic tendencies, which you can probably gather from perusing my photo albums. I love to spend time with my family, sing, laugh, shop, hang out on the beach (which is a heck of alot easier now that we're in Maryland!) Now there are some things I am not a fan of: poor grammar, laziness, slow drivers, having to wait for anything, things that I have no control over whatsoever...

Who I'd like to meet:
I like meeting people who are interesting, unique, genuine, and not pretentious. I think most people are fascinating, and I like to try to figure out what makes them tick. I think I'm a people person :)
