Paisley Van Patten’s songs shoot straight from her soul. The beautiful, edgy singer, songwriter and actress uses the reality of her young life to perform music that makes people of all ages laugh and cry.
Today millions of Americans are waking up to Paisley and connecting with her in a brand new way. She’s the voice of the TODAY show’s new song YOUR DAY IS TODAY. The theme music, created by Emmy and Grammy nominated producer, songwriter Greg Barnhill, celebrates the relationship between NBC’s TODAY show and the TODAY show viewer.
And TODAY show viewers are relating to Paisley in a way she never thought possible. Every morning, Paisley helps them jumpstart their day!
Hearing her voice stir up America is just part of the young Utahan’s rocket trip up the country music ladder. This summer Paisley was the opening act for Superstar Clint Black at the Murry Theatre in Utah. She’s talking and singing on television shows in Salt Lake and Dallas(check) Her own theme song “My Sanity,” is getting plenty of play on Utah radio stations.
Plus Paisley’s at step three of the Colgate Country Showdown competition winning both the local and state wide Utah contest. Next stop is Portland, Oregon where she is poised to go to Nashville and compete with the country’s best new country singers.
“I like getting into the car and turning the radio onto a song that makes you realize you’ll be okay,” Paisley says, “You’ll get through it. You’re not alone. That’s what I want to do for people.”
The up and coming star had a rocky start that she taps to fuel her music. She never knew her real father. Her mother’s first husband adopted her. Then there was a divorce, a remarriage and another divorce that thrust her into an emotional whirlwind. Paisley emerged from that chaos wiser than her 21 years to write an autobiographical song, “My Sanity,” which offers hope, solace and humor to all those who have hear it.
Paisley has been wowing crowds since she was ten and began performing at state fairs and malls around her home state of Utah. At twelve she was singing in movie theater parking lots. Soon came an offer to fly to Nashville and open for the group, She Daisy.
Back to Utah, she sang at the 2002 Utah Olympics Governor’s Ceremony for an audience that included the President of the United States.
At 16, Warner Brothers whisked her off to Montreal where Paisley sang with pop star Corey Hart. After a late night recording session with Hart she received a stunning telephone call from The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen, “I really enjoy your voice,” Springsteen told the startled teenager.
Soon Paisley’s career took another turn. The little girl, who used to sing outside movie theaters, was now featured in the Disney Channel movie “Read it and Weep.” Today Paisley is back and forth between Utah and Nashville writing, singing and recording with Greg Barnhill, who has made her his protégé.
After recently performing together at the Cannes Music Festival in Cannes,
France, Barnhill said:
“Paisley’ s a gem. She is on the cusp of realizing her crossover potential. It’s wonderful to see her blossoming into the star we all knew she would be.”
