About me: I enjoy helping artists navigate the recording process. Sharing knowledge and experience is what it's all about. For me it isn't a money thing; it's art, expression and the groove. That said, I do charge a nominal hourly fee which makes Highway Recording easily within the reach of most artists. Please understand that I don't take on all projects. I enjoy working in situations where I can be of value and where I personally enjoy the music. Raggae and rap are not my thing. But all inquiries are welcome so, by all means, please ask.
I started recording in the 1970s using a TEAC 4-track reel-to-reel tape deck and a Shure microphone to record a track that ended up on Hawaii's first Home Grown album. As a singer/songwriter I realized that to get my music heard I had to put it into a medium that was easy for people to access; something I could hand out. Back then it was cassettes; now it's CDs and the Internet.
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone who believes in their music and wants to memorialize their sound. I look for artists who exhibit some creativity which is far more important than technical proficiency. My typical clients are emerging artists, whether bands or solo artists. I especially like working with clients who've previously had unsatisfactory studio experiences. Creating and recording music should be a fun, rewarding and memorable experience.
About You: Take pride in yourself as there is no one else in the world exactly like you. Revel in your differences!
