About Pale Cabaret

Hailing from Cranbrook, B.C. Pale Cabaret is, Logan Rudrum, Laura Genschorek and Andy Schneider. They have been playing together since early 2007. What does Pale Cabaret sound like, you might ask? Eerily enough, the name itself gives a fairly good insight into the sonic happenings of the band. With brass, piano and plenty of vocal arrangements, there is a definite cabaret atmosphere to the songs. Yet that same atmosphere is sometimes darker, with minor chords where majors would be in a traditional Cabaret. Thus, a modifier is needed. What does Pale Cabaret sound like, you ask? They sound like a Pale Cabaret. There is more to the name of Pale Cabaret than what hits your eardrums, however. Their live show is unmistakably “theateresque”. The songs themselves each tell stories and the band members aren’t afraid to act them out on stage, with dancing forming an integral part of the live atmosphere. Of course, labeling a band is always hard to do. Is Pale Cabaret strictly a cabaret act with darker chord progressions? Hardly. There is plenty of genre bending involved in their music, and the end result is a band that is familiar yet unmistakably unique, accessible but strange; new and cool, for lack of better poetry.
