News:
Currently, Paledave is preparing for fall and winter shows to support the new album, One Good Leg.
CD Release Party - Saturday, September 13 at The Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti, MI.
Bio:
Paledave is based out of Ypsilanti, MI, just outside of Detroit. The band started in 2003 as a solo venture featuring singer/songwriter Dave Buehrer. Dave has played guitar and provided vocals for a number of cover and original bands, as well as acoustic acts, since the late 80s. Dave's influences range from singer/songwriters, to punk, to classic rock, and even 70s pop. He loves a "catchy - yet rockin'" song, which explains why he lists songwriters like Paul Westerberg, Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, Neil Young, and The Jayhawks as some of his influences. The band's sound has been compared to Tom Petty, Ryan Adams, and The Wallflowers.
The recorded version of the band includes the rhythm section of Jon "extra C" Carmona on bass, and John Churchville on drums, tabla, and percussion. Session drummer, Adam White, provided drums on 3 of the new album's 10 tracks. Backup vocals are provided by Jenny Fair, and Mars or the Moon vocalist, Lani Williams, sang on 3 songs on One Good Leg. Conductor/pianist, John Goodell, laid down the fine piano tracks, and Joe Neely offered up the B-3 organ, as well as trumpet on "Freedom."
Paledave live features Dave, Jenny Fair, Jon Carmona, and Eric Markley on keys and guitar. Drum responsibilities are shared by John Churchville and David Hackett.
In music festivals, clubs, and coffee houses their shows have been enjoyed by thousands of music fans.
The Music:
Paledave music is insightful lyrics set in an eclectic mix of song writing styles. You'll hear everything from high energy "drive-through-a-wall" rock, to 70s pop era hooks, to big band swing, to heart on a sleeve passion. Their live shows incorporate everything from introspective acoustic performances to kickin' band performances.
The new album, One Good Leg, presents a broader range of musical styles and instrumentation over Paledave's previous release (Find What You Love), thus providing some exciting new sounds for their fan base. Songs like "Canopy of Clouds" and "It Ain't Jack" are part of that "drive through a wall rock," while "Day Without A Sound" and "Simple Point" fall under the "heart on the sleeve category." Check out "Freedom" and "Under My Thumb." These songs are reminiscent of artists like Ryan Adams and The Wallflowers. Also try "Woman," which has a unique and upbeat rhythm section, and for the politically astute listening audience (particularly this election year), "The Capitalist Swing."
