old school songwriters, old and new friends...feelings that are formed down deep that transcend bullshit...tom waits, bob dylan, daniel johnston, the pogues, the pixies, the beatles, the beach boys, everything in nature + everything artificial, ...floorboards, drainpipes, ceiling noise, ghosts in a furniture attic all aghast...uncle tupelo, old-school country, americana, Great Britain, families, sunrises in the east, sunsets in the west.
More than a decade since his last major label release, PALEFACE, a founding member of NYC's Anti-folk movement, is back with The Show Is On The Road (Ramseur Records). The album is an intimate, 11-song diary that transcends genres with its ingenuous lyrics and deceptively unassuming style - just Paleface on guitar, harmonica & banjo, darling Monica "Mo" Samalot on drums and backing vocals and a few guest performances.... Paleface is the sort of artist who brings you into his world - his voice is sweetly ravaged and effortlessly expressive, as intimate as a friend whispering in your ear. The album is farewell love letter to his longtime home, New York City, and an embrace of his new life in the South and on the road with darlin "Mo".
PALEFACE released a brand new live video "Hank Williams From His Grave"
on Sept 17th.... the day of Hank Williams' Birthday. The song was
written by PALEFACE and the original version of the song was a track on
Paleface's major label full length debut on Polydor Records.
Nice stuff. Just listened to NY, NY. What is your zip code? This is some really nice song-writing. Quite original with a touch of Tom Waits. Thanks for the friend posting. Dan/TheWorkers
Hey, thanks! We should play together again sometime. We're trying to make it up to NYC this fall. And you guys should let me know if you want to come back to Pittsburgh.
