We were always told there is no sound that sitting behind a desk all day makes. No sound that waiting tables and lugging cameras for a second rate crime show make. Driving a mini-van with three kids, vomiting at the office Holiday party, knocking up your girlfriend. There is no sound for these things, no soundtrack to play underneath it all.
Wait, maybe there is.
"Great guitar sound" - Dean Warhem, Luna (Madador Records)
With the energy of Arcade Fire, the fury of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and the can’t-get-that-song-out-of-my-head catchiness of Oasis, Palisade plays songs that resonate with the forlorn and the found, songs that capture the want of any person who has ever hoped to be more than what they are.
Previously of Revivalist, Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist Scott Schneider recorded a well-received EP with legendary producer Kramer (Galaxie 500, King Missile), before forming Palisade with drummer Steve Lundberg and bassist Jeremy Weishaar in 2003. With the recent addition of guitarist Ben Curtis, Schneider's vision for an ensemble has finally been realized. Lundberg's confident, thunderous percussion combined with Weishaar's melodic lines and Curtis's textured, infectious riffs bring life to the songs you can’t help singing under your breath.
These Are Our Victory Songs includes tracks that are at once aggressive and delicate, catchy and haunting. "Save the Season" sets the tone for an album whose ethereal guitar lines and bouncy vocals explode again and again into frantic chorus.
Palisade performs regularly in New York City clubs, and is currently writing new material for its fall release.
My IPOD seems to play the same songs, the damn little machine has a top fifteen list EVERYDAY of the same songs. One of them is, "Ivanhoe". I can't stand the other 14 anymore, but I still enjoy when it plays Palisade!
