Always reading too many books. Right now reading Vanity Fair by Thackery, Memoirs of a Geisha and Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. Love anything about the Civil War. Love Historical novels and Science Fiction. Also love to read biographies, especially of musicians.

About me: I am a 47 year old Media Sales Executive and Former Radio Announcer. As long as I can remember, I wanted to be on the radio. I finally realized my dream way back in the '80's when I became a DJ at KNJO/FM in Thousand Oaks California in 1982.
I did that for three years before I left radio to make a living wage. For the next 20 years I worked selling various kinds of advertising.
But my love for radio never left me, and my experience in radio seemed to further frustrate me. As a DJ, I realized I had very little control over decisions over the music. Songs were played based on decisions of people at magazines and consulting companies. Being a DJ in that environment was like some kind of electronic drone. I dreamed of a day when I would own my own station.
I am also an avid musician. I have spent my whole life learning music, starting with piano lessons at age 8. At 18 I took up blues harmonica (my true love) and at 37 I learned to play the alto sax. I have an enormous music collection in all genres that I have collected over the years.
On December 29, 2005, my dream came true! That is the day that my online radio station mybluesroots.com went on the air. It is a station dedicated to exploring the links of blues in the music represented by Louis Armstrong, Muddy Waters, Hank Williams and Bob Dylan. The station is part of the Live365 radio network. It is currently ranked 18th out of 197 blues stations on the network.
mybluesroots.com is dedicated to educating listeners about the blues, and just enjoying some great music. I determine what is played, and that is based on only one criteria---Does it contain strains of the blues or not? That is the only determining factor to receive airplay. This station exists in direct opposition to the forces in radio that conspired to try and ruin acts like The Dixie Chicks. They don't need country radio and no one does in a world where anyone can create a global broadcast from their own home!
