About me:
The Palm Springs Public Safety Explorer's group is headed by three advisors: Lt. John DeMarco, Cpl. Chris Fusaro, and Ofc. Robert Hite. The group consists of explorers between 14 and 21 years of age. As explorers, we undergo training and hands-on experience in the careers of Law Enforcement, Fire-Rescue, and emergency dispatching. We participate in ride-alongs with officers on road patrol, as well as with fire-rescue, giving us an opportunity to see what each career entails in real-life situations. We also spend time in the communications center to understand how emergency dispatching works. We assist officers on duty in special events, including the annual festival at St. Lukes. Explorers also participate in events such as the Law Enforcement Challenge and Fire-Matics. Perspective explorers may come to one of our bi-weekly meetings at the Palm Springs Public Safety complex. Meetings start at 7:00 pm, and perspective explorers should arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to the meeting to allow time for paperwork, etc. to be prepared.
***The station is located at 230 Cypress Lane in Palm Springs. To get there, take Congress Ave to Dolan Road, between Forest Hill Blvd. and 10th Ave. North. Turn west onto Dolan Road and proceed until you pass the baseball field. The entrance to the public safety complex will be on your left-hand side just before the 4-way stop.***
