ALEKS YLANAN is a graduate of Bachelor of Science Major in Biology of U.P. Cebu and is currently taking up medicine in South Western University. A former president and vice president of ANDRES U.P. chapter, Aleks also played bass and guitar for the band Jolin Pinis Reerected, headed by frontman Keith Bacalso. Aleks has a variety of musical influences, but his most notable include music by THE USED, PANIC AT THE DISCO, LED ZEPPELIN, WOLFGANG, and INCUBUS. Being the romantic among the three, he has at knack at writing poetry. As the most inquisitive of the three, Aleks enjoys coming up with every conceivable question. Aleks plays football, loves the movie "Closer" (he collected the movie's quotes), and is not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve. Aleks would be contributing 1 or 2 songs for their up and coming solo album.

BANGBANG, the oldest of the three, is a graduate of Bachelor of Arts Major in Painting of U.P. Cebu. Replaced by Jaime Paglinawan Jr., he once played bass guitar for the band BANSIWAG. He was the former Chairperson of the Fine Arts Student Organization and the Nagkahiusang Kusog sa Estudyante political party, and was also the founding chairperson of the Andres cultural organization. A football afficionado, Bangbang played in the FASO/HUMANITIES UNITED Football Team in his early days. He then progressed to take on the position as coach for the same team, which won a total of seven championship games with six from the UP Intramurals and one from APO Cup tournament. He is presently the head coach of the U.P. Football Club Ladies Team. Bangbang is also an online web content writer. His musical influences would fall more on classic rock acts. He composed the song "Martial Law Na nga Ba?"

INTOY CORPIN III, at 22, is basically the most experienced and the most musically gifted of the three. He is a graduate of Bachelor of Fine Arts Major in Painting at U.P. Cebu and is now working as a graphic artist. With an ability to play the guitar, bass, percussion, and drums, Intoy has played in various bands since high school. Intoy is more known as the drummer of BALDE NI ALLAN, a local band who made it as a finalist for the Red Horse Beer Musiklaban. Intoy was also a former UPV-USC councilor under the Nagkahiusang Kusog sa Estudyante poltical party. He was also a former ANDRES U.P. chapter President and a 3-time U.P. intramurals champion for the Humanities United Football Team. His major influences include the FOO FIGHTERS, U2, DREAM THEATER and URBAN DUB. He wrote the song "Freya."
The story begins with Intoy Corpin III meeting Bangbang as members of
ANDRES cultural organization at the University of the Philippines Cebu City. The two eventually discovered that they both had similar interests in music mainly that of U2, WOLFGANG and RAZORBACK. The two played around with the idea of making a rock and roll band, but it was Intoy who proposed the idea that he would only take the plan seriously if Bangbang agreed to be the vocalist.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At this point, Intoy was already playing drums for BALDE NI ALLAN and Bangbang was also playing bass guitar for BANSIWAG. Furthermore, the idea of taking on the role as lead vocalist and possibly leaving the bass guitar post was someting new to Bangbang. Yet even with the indecision, the two began to discuss their choice of music genre and also started to scout for more possible additions to the duo.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In discussing their music genre, the initial plan was really to play rock and roll reminiscent of RAZORBACK. But as time progressed and with a lot of musical influences to consider, the band decided to open up to other genres. But they did reach a consensus that their music would not to be too loud for the lyrics to still be audible and comprehensible. Such emphasis on the clarity of lyrics would be attributed to the influence of the ANDRES organization’s principles on them. And that is, that there is a need for artists to create relevant art which is responsive to the issues of its time; and likewise a need for them to become responsible artists themselves. With this in mind, the band looked up to artists such as THE JERKS, YANO, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE for inspiration and as influences. But even with such influences, the band still kept an open mind towards music that showed everday life, growing up, and other experiences.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scouting for another member was another big feat. There was still confusion with regards to the type of talent to look for. Bangbang and Intoy deliberated back and forth whether or not they’d have a 3, 4, or 5-member band. And so the search was on. There were names suggested and people invited but none somehow were satisfactory. That is, until Intoy recommended Aleks Ylanan.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aleks Ylanan was, at this time, a member of ANDRES and was on his 2nd year as a biology student at the University of the Philippines. In no time, Aleks agreed to join the band. However, there were still questions. Bangbang was still hesitant of the prospect of being the lead vocalist. This led to the confusion if they were to look for a bassist or another vocalist. The indecision affected the progress of the band until Aleks Ylanan suggested that they might as well start to jam. They’d settle their indecision based on whatever transpired from their debut jam session. The band started out with acoustic jams and gradually performed in acoustic concerts. And they eventually grew into jamming as a full band. As a full band with no designated vocalist, they initially played instrumental music such as Hawaii Five-O, S.W.A.T., and James Bond themes. Slowly the three got comfortable with their roles. They have also finally decided that an additional member would disrupt their newly found chemistry. Bangbang had also begun to slowly accept the role of being both the vocalist and the bassist.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And so it was, a three-piece band of Aleks, Bangbang, and Intoy became the final line up.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As a three-man band, their earliest work included covers of JUAN DEL CRUZ’s Balong Malalim, PAN’s Rebolusyon and THE BEATLES’ I Saw Her Standing There. They soon started composings songs to add more to their line up. "Mingaw" was first, and was then followed by "Busted", "Ang Galit ng Bayan", "Freya", and "Martial Law Na Nga Ba?" From then on until the present, the band regularly performs at Musicians4Peace Cebu concerts.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Presently, the band is also included in the organizations first compilation album, "PROLETIKA" along with fellow protest musicians CLASS STRUGGLE, BANSIWAG, PENNY ROYAL, ADARNA and many others.
--------------------------------------------------------------
And should time and space allow them, the band is planning to release a solo album this year.
