Inspired by David Hudson, Tyler Spencer, Gaulthier, Stephen Kent, Jake Duncan, Chad Butler, Lies Beijerinck, Ondrej Smeykal, Dubravko Lapaine, Ulrich Schnauss, Dead Can Dance, Delerium, Lisa Gerrard, my grandmothers, Edward Zincavage, my students, Virgil Fox, Carol Burnett, Victor Borge and anyone who I probably missed.
This is my first full-length didgeridoo album and I'm glad to be sharing it with you. Thank you for listening!
I've been a musician all my life, first taking up organ and keyboard, then later, Native American flute, didgeridoo, djembe and doumbek. Of these, the didgeridoo has become my passion. It's the one instrument I choose to express what I have to say because it allows me to synthesize sound and rhythms to set a mood, make an atmosphere or just plain have a rockin' good time.
My history with the didgeridoo started in Spring of 2005 after hearing and being inspired by David Hudson and Stephen Kent. Since then, I've been exploring and creating my own sounds that can be described as urban tribal. These sounds are drawn from my love for the blues, hip-hop, African, Middle Eastern beats, urban rhythms and atmospheric ambiance.
But the didgeridoo itself has also been very inspiring in looking inward to express who I am. The many facets of this instrument has allowed me to convey many different feelings from the lightness of a joyful dancer to the darkness of a spacial subterranean atmosphere. There are no notes to learn, no rules to go by. Just exploration. There is no right or wrong way to play it. Only your way. It leaves you to play without any inhibitions. I love that!
Since completing work on my last album "TreeSpeak," I've been working on ways to help bring the didgeridoo more into the mainstream through performing, workshops and learning how to make them. Doing so has only deepened my love and appreciation for this extraordinary instrument. I'm happy to share that love and appreciation with others as the popularity of this instrument grows.
I have been fortunate and thankful to be supported, inspired and encouraged the way I have been, learn the things I've learned, perform in many great places in the world and meet the people I've met. The didgeridoo community is an amazing one full of people who are passionate about this instrument and who are so open to share that passion with others. I'm grateful and humbled to be a part of that community and to now pass along what I've learned.
If you think you would like to book a performance or workshop in your area or would like to learn more about what I do, I can be reached either through a message on this site or through my website at www.pamelamortensen.com

Hey Pamela Mortensen, I am sending you a Cranberry Surprise.
I am a bit quiet because I'm recording days and nights of winds and mights. I have not set a new record yet, but I plan too! Soon!
I had a great plan to dig the tunnel to Seattle, so i don't have to walk in the rain when i want to visit you, but i got lost on the way and turned back in circle after 8000 miles. Imagine that. I couldn't come around worse. Next time I plan to go over clouds!
Expect me when you least expect me! And the other way around. ;-)
