Pam Paton
marimba, drums, percussion, composer ...
Music has been a driving force in Pam's life since she was three. She studied piano & guitar before she discovered drumming at twelve. Her formal percussion studies began as a teenager and she has been a freelance drummer /percussionist across Canada and the USA since 1970. She studied music at Dalhousie University in Halifax majoring in percussion and studied music and theatre at Memorial University in Newfoundland. While in Newfoundland, she became a founding member of the internationally known Celtic Rock band Rawlins Cross.
Pam has been performing and recording original songs and compositions on marimba as a solo artist and with her band since 1990. Now based in Nova Scotia, Canada, Pam enthusiastically pursues her musical career as a marimba player, drummer, composer, educator and hand drum facilitator.
Pam's first solo recording " Waves by the River " for marimba and bodhran illustrates her skill as a musician, composer and arranger. Her second recording " Dancing with the Ancestors " of celtic tunes and original songs is arranged for marimba, guitar, bass, percussion, piano, celtic harp and voices.
