Award-winning Jazz band PAN CON BISTEC was founded in 2001 by Cuban-born flutist/saxophonist Bobby Ramirez, featuring violinist Federico Britos and is based in South Florida.
The PAN CON BISTEC sound is largely based on a multi-cultural musical experience rooted in the tradition of the language of Jazz and Afro-Latin music with a plethora of edgy rhythmic undertones--featuring an array of ethnic drums and Afro-Cuban percussion instruments.
The band’s signature instrumentation features: keyboards, trap drums, bass guitar (electric and acoustic), 2 percussionists, violin, saxophone and flute. Most everyone in the band also perform percussion instruments (bata drums, shekere, maracas, djembe, clave, timbales, bongos, and others). A brass section is sometimes added for bigger concerts, as well as performing as a simple quintet for smaller Shows.
A live performance by PAN CON BISTEC can be described as embarking on a musical odyssey that seeks to energize its audience; a spontaneous exporation of improvisation that inspires to take Jazz and Afro-ethnic indigenous rhythm to the outer limits of space and time in the 21st Century, while honoring the fundamental Jazz and Latin music traditions that have been established by its forefathers.
The repertoire includes original music and Jazz standards that highlight various Jazz styles with unique arrangements influenced by many rhythms from North/Central/South America and the Caribbean--including: Afro-Cuban and Brazilian, swing, bebop, Latin Jazz, and others.
