| About Pandable |
An ambient-experimental artist based in Indiana. The Pandable project was born in 2001 when a then 14-year-old Jason Crowe began exploring sound synthesis through soft synths and his first synthesizer, a Juno 106. Since then, Pandable's sonic repetoire has expanded to cover a variety of electronic elements (digital and analog synthesis, field recordings, contact microphones, etc) and acoustic instruments (tibetan bone flute, kalimba, shakuhachi, bansuri, and damaru.) In this sense, Jason's music is comprised of equal parts organic and synthetic, which he treats and combines into a unity of ritual and transformation.
Pandable's diverse musical vocabulary is largely ambient, but veers off into industrial, psychedelic, classical, and other influences at times. His works range from 2004's 'Lunaris', a psychedelic chillout album, to the dark ambient 'The Visitant' and the minimalist-classical 'Music for Four Synthesizers', both released in 2005. For the most part, Pandable's music tends to either paint musical portraits of atmosphere and surrounding or unlock and express deep feelings on the part of the listener. But more than anthing, Pandable's music is diverse and original.
As of late, Jason has been working on his newly-founded CD-R label, Hidden Stream, and working on putting the finishing touches on his 2007 release, the ambient 'In the Shadow of Summers Now Past.' On the side, Jason spins as a goa and psytrance DJ, and runs a midwest area psychedelic trance production crew, Psycycle Productions.
