P.AND.A. was born sometime in November of 2007, when two unsuspecting artists found something in common: an unrelenting passion for music. The name was coined to symbolize the blending of its two different musical foundations into one diverse duo: the emblematic representation being the black and white PANDA bear. In addition, PANDA is an acronym for “Perspire AND Achieve,” the duo’s work ethic. For Dash Weidhofer, (singer/songwriter), music had become more than a passion, music had become his life. For Shadrach (producer/emcee), music was embedded in his soul from day one, making beats and rapping by age 15. P.AND.A. was formed less out of a similar taste in music or a common obsession, but more out of an overall passion for making good music with the right message. What sets P.AND.A. apart from other groups is the combination of two music enthusiasts from very different backgrounds. With tastes ranging from Steely Dan to Dilated Peoples, their music definitely has hip hop roots, but has an edge unlike most mainstream hip hop; it doesn’t sound like anything you’ve ever heard before.
