'What springs to mind when one witnesses this bunch of indie boys from
Belfast is quirky and beautiful. It's all harmonies and jangly guitars
with strung-out rhythms and monster choruses. You'd think they've been
out on the town with Pavement and Grandaddy, then bumped into Postal
Service on the way home. A band that demands to be remembered.'
The Fly
'Panda Kopanda take sunny, carefree Beachboys-style hooks mixing them
with the lo-fi stripped down sound of early Pavement.
They have impeccable influences, masses of talent and hearts as
huge as their songs. Panda Kopanda are the sort of band who (as I speak) are picking up countless fans through their infectious, bruised songwriting,
and will be making an impact on the world this year and beyond.'
Is This Music?
'Intelligent indie-rock is an increasingly rare commodity, but Panda Kopanda have tapped into a rich vein. This glimmering ore is smelted into the superb songs on 'The Ocean of Fire E.P.' Their songs are wonderful acts of musical misdirection; they feint one way before swerving to land the devastating blow. With a surfeit of ideas at their disposal Panda Kopanda have commandeered the audience’s attention for the entire duration, an impressive achievement!'
BBC's Across The Line (review of BelFest 06)
'On Saturday, the quirkily named Panda Kopanda are treating the crowd to
an awe-inspiring performance at The Hub. This youthful four-piece are
bursting with contagious energy. Their exhilarating performance is
tinted with shades of Bloc Party and afterwards the crowd cram at the DJ
box where they try to get their hands on a limited number of the bands'
debut EP.'
Underrated Magazine (review of Hard Working Class Heroes Festival)
'The Ocean of Fire EP, is a fine example of quirky indie; a five-track taster of a band for whom the DIY ethos has become a way of life. Opener 'About My Temper' is a standout , it has jarring guitars, sombre tones and Reid's gorgeous, hushed vocals - just the right side of offbeat menace. Both 'Ocean of Fire' and 'Spiderwebs in Empty Homes' swap subtle experimentation for sparse instrumentation and tenuous harmonies, while 'Open Ground' swings loosely and darkly through a swathe of disquiet. An impressive effort.'

Very cool. Never had a listen to your music before but I'm liking it!!
I've stuck up some new recordings of songs we did in the album session in Electrical Audio. None of the songs are mastered yet and there are a couple of tweaks here and there to be done but I thought I"d stick em up so you could get a listen before the album is released.
I"m gonna rotate the songs on an as unyet decided basis (weekly, biweekly, triweekly even??) and include songs that didn"t make the final cut. Watch out for them...
The songs up now are There You Stand, This Is How We Play and Home.
Hmmmm... none of those "sounds like" entries does it for me. More like the soundtrack to a three-way between Television, the Psych Furs, and Kings of Convenience officiated by Lou Barlow. Your songs have a heightened sense of texture, tension, and contrast (I've always been a sucker for plaintive vox over fevered music).
In short, s'beautiful work, fellas.

yeah not an act of a crazed fan I am just really lazy with these things - I read your comment just after I looked at my own music preferences and thought - ummm.... I don't know half of the...oh right!
New tune sounds delicious. did you get an email from mairin about camada tour info? sorry we've been less than on the ball with all this stuff... we're having a nightmare of a time just getting the pearson record finished before our summer tour (which is similarly sketchy at this point).
