BACKGROUND: about the designer
Melissa began her creative life as a writing student at U of M, and began exploring non-traditional book design in 2005. Currently Melissa is an MFA candidate in 2D design at Cranbrook Academy of Art. Melissa has worked widely in Sales & Marketing, Marketing Design, Book Production, and Book Design. She continues to create her unique books, featuring the writing of new authors that she feels inspired by.
BUYING/COLLECTING OUR BOOKS:
Our goal is to keep Melissa’s books affordable. Granted, we’ve been criticized for selling them at little or no profit, but we don’t think of these works as art pieces. Instead, we think of them first and foremost as books. Books should be read, and cost should not be a barrier to that, ever. She'll often create a chapbook companion "reproduction", which retains many of the same original design elements but can be made available for around $10.
Melissa’s books are available for purchase. Be sure to check out our websites order page for more details and to make purchases!
Who I'd like to meet:
Poets, Writers, Artists seriously interested in publishing their work in non-traditional forms.

About FTM Book Vol. 1 FTM Book Vol 1: A Basic Introduction to Transman Life is an easy-to-understand, yet comprehensive primer on FTM issues such as:
What is an FTM? How do FTMs see themselves? Appearance Stages in Transition Surgeries Available Common Personal Histories Violence Discrimination Health Issues Counseling Relationships Common Legal Issues
We've worked hard to help create definitions that will help you talk about trans issues with others, including terms for body parts unique to the FTM and by naming the stages of transitioning. This book is great for anyone who who is having trouble understanding the lifestyle or choices of a transperson. When we first began dating, we were shocked that there was no one place that he (Aaron) could turn to show me (Crystal) "See, this explains what being an FTM means." We hope that this book will be a good start.
Best of all, when you order FTM Book Vol. 1: A Basic Introduction to Transman Life you can feel good knowing that sales of the book are being used to fund more research to help FTMs and their partners get through the challenges of their lives. This is a great book for youself and for anyone you know who could use a little more understanding. Also, you can help teach others about trans issues by donating copies to your local high schools, colleges, LGBT centers and libraries.

Hey, it's been awhile! Unfortunately, my mother died, all a bit traumatic. But, now I'm hopefully back in the loop, my MOONSTONE MURDERS: THE MOVIE SCRIPT just published by Wildside/Borgo, and they've just gone to contract to have me give them the legit theater version, as MURDERS by METEORITE, and I've a new anthology with Laura Baumbach coming out the end of this month and next. And ... Well, let's just say that I'm trying to get back into the loop. --None of which is why I'm really writing. that real reason being... --I know this is early, but, hey, my memory isn't what it once was (who am I? who are you?), so that it's probably now or never. --So, while I've long-since quit celebrating my own birthdays, that’s not to say that I’m not still able to wish anyone still celebrating theirs a --Have a Happy One. My seniors have just one more week! I've been busy with collecting overdue books all week and I'm totally beat! This is such a battle every year. I can now start concentrating on the rest of the classes - collecting their books. It'll take me till the end of school, I'm afraid. Such is the life of a school librarian - sigh.
Oh, btw, Have a WONDERFUL weekend!
