Christos Govetas and Ruth Hunter started Pangeo in 1997 and now have guitarist/oud player Kane Mathis on board, along with percussionist Will Dowd, both of Seattle. Pangeo plays Greek, and Balkan music, stretching from the ultra-traditional, regional sounds of Greece and Albania to the more modern sounds of Roma (Gypsy) music from all over the Balkans.
