Resolved is a multi-disciplinary performance piece
composed, choreographed and directed by Wolfgang Thompson
performed by Skip Emerson, Emily Rued, Brianna Anthony, and Mary Wilson.
About me: Pangs Theater Ensemble is a performing arts institution founded in 2004 committed to bringing quality innovative work to the public.
PTE is grounded solidly in theater, yet also devoted to developing cutting-edge multidisciplinary work. We perform classic pieces and imbue them with our stamp of physical and intense performance and direction. We also stage new work, which combines various genres into compilation performances, retaining the significance and historical meaning of their parts and using them to convey universal human messages.
PTE's work is marked by its physical style and by the combination of historical and modern elements in its
productions. Even classics are presented applying a physical, multi-disciplinary approach, including a strong focus on choreography, body movement, and exploration of the physical space among the characters. Pangs Theater Ensemble's physical approach is developed by its Artistic Director Wolfgang Thompson.
PTE's work combines elements such as traditional theater, ballet, poetry, classical music, architecture, modern dance, literature and visual art, into work that often defies classification. If you watch and listen leaving none of your senses unused, you will see, hear and feel universal concepts of humanity while being entertained by our work.
Our projects are ambitious and unique, leading to an experience for the audience such as they have not before encountered. The work is innovative, yet historically rich, modern and yet full of meaning. We stand behind the concept that significance and quality do not have to be tedious, but that substance and entertainment are closely related.
We stage projects which match our passion for art. Join us!
From September 4, 2008 through September 14, 2008, the San Francisco Fringe Festival will host Pangs Theater Ensemble’s performance of SONDERKOMMADO, a modern multi-disciplinary piece on the subject of genocide and mass suffering, written and directed by Wolfgang Thompson, Pangs Theater Ensemble's Artistic Director.
SONDERKOMMANDO is the second in Mr. Thompson’s Holocaust trilogy of modern performance pieces, the first of which, Lamb, performed in August of 2007, was featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Francisco Examiner, KQED affiliate interviews, as well as other media.
Using modern and classical dance, beautiful early-1900’s poetry, Biblical text and medieval sermonizing discourse, SONDERKOMMADO dramatizes the truth about human suffering. Its goal is to get to the heart of the source of genocide and to enable the audience to understand the pain of humanity.
