Sounds Like
A hot, humid night in some small but crowded dive in the Islands, the Mountains, and the Swamp all at once.
The Panorama Jazz Band was formed in 1995 by New Orleans clarinetist, Ben Schenck. The basic idea is to get people excited without the use of electricity - hence the instrumentation: clarinet, sax, trombone, accordion, banjo, tuba and drums. Vocalist Jane Harvey Brown brings her brassy, sassy self onto the bandstand for special occasions. Their repertoire comes from all over the world. The band can turn on a dime from Eastern European Jewish to Caribbean Creole to funky New Orleans. Panorama plays a lot of local weddings and bar mitzvahs as well as the annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest (7 years running), other local music festivals, Festival Internacional de Jazz Veracruz (Mexico), St. Paul Winter Carnival (Minnesota) and their weekly set at the Spotted Cat 623 Frenchmen St. in New Orleans (Fridays, 6:30-9:30pm).
Id like to thank Ben Schenck for the spank of wank when he cranks his plank in a klezzy prank. Its hard being a Traffic Stopper when your panorama came from Alabama with an Obama on their knee.... wooowee.. that was sumpn huh hoss?
hey man! remember that parade with all those drunk people?!! yeah me too! that was indefatigable....
Bon Vivant. (shaka laka)Bon Vivant....
are you comin up here for some skeeter pie or whut?
already friends at real life and now virtuel too! Still so glad to know you! I send my love to you and New Orleans! Keep on rocking in a free world! best wishes Saschi from Berlin!
I'm happy and honored to inform you that our new album "MASISAMBA" is almost ready to be released via internet! (there is some artwork left to do). Thank you very much for your interest in what we do. Our MySpace player plays more than 150 times over night ! ! ! ! ! ! It inspires my colleagues ! ! ! ! ! There is not much real Big Band music in today's world. To be frank, it takes a lot of effort to keep musicians together. So your interest helps me to cope with this!
cordially, Armen Martirosian, artistic director, Armenian Jazz Band
P.S.I created a new group JAZZ ORCHESTRAS !!!!!!!!!
I ran into her again two years ago in flora's cafe, it was a friday, she said she and some friends of hers were playing at the spotted cat, I told her I'd come check it out.
