'stina®'s Interests
|
| General | thinking, learning, creating, reading, writing, re-purposing, coffee, music, sex, pool, pinball, disc golf, walk-taking {see previous entry}, self-improvement, self-discovery, aspiration, privacy, piracy, reading material, quality writing implements, brevity in theory, hot wheels and johnny lightning, other toys, antiques, estate sale-ing, thrift store-ing, pole lamps, cheese, stained glass, quilling, and sex. | | Music | yes please. | | Television | less and less as time goes by. | | Books | My favorite book is magazines. Any magazine at all would probably hold my interest, except for maybe that Oprah one. It is my understanding that the mighty Bill Gates reads a new magazine title every day at lunch. This is a sound policy if you can afford to do it.
My favorite magazines include MAKE, CRAFT, Fingerstyle Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Vintage Guitar, Car Craft, Popular Woodworking, Highlights {except that Goofus and Gallant looks like shit now}, Popular Science, Mother Jones, 2600, Fretboard Journal, Domino, JAM, Model Railroader, Classic Toy Trains, Time, Ready-Made, Action Figure Digest, Toy Fare, Wizard, and Dominatrix Digest.
Ok, here are some books I like:
In the Beginning Was... The Command Line, programming books, OS books, reference materials, manuals, trivia/facts, mind hackery, counterculture, free software movement news...Be My Baby {Ronnie Spector's autobiography}, The Crying of Lot 49, The Fountainhead, The Man Who Folded Himself, and The World According to Garp. |

'stina®'s Blurbs |
About me:
I've been climbing trees all my life, but NOT trees that are near overhead lines. If you touch one of those lines or if your weight makes a branch touch a line...that electricity will come right to you. And that can hurt. It may even kill you. And climbing utility poles is REALLY dumb. So remember, always look before climbing and PLEASE stay out of trees that are near overhead lines.

Who I'd like to meet:
Someone like me. Four-fifths of attraction, from where I stand, is comprised of your intellect and wit. Four-fifths of that is that you have a desire to improve yourself. But maybe I'm afraid to meet you. Perhaps you feel the same way. Aside from that...
Cory Doctorow.
Saul Griffith.
Drew Curtis.
xkcd Randall.
Bret Easton Ellis.
Neal Stephenson.
your humor style: CLEAN | COMPLEX | DARK
You like things edgy, subtle, and smart. I guess that means you're probably an intellectual, but don't take that to mean pretentious. You realize 'dumb' can be witty--after all isn't that the Simpsons' philosophy?--but rudeness for its own sake, 'gross-out' humor and most other things found in a fraternity leave you totally flat. I guess you just have a more cerebral approach than most. You have the perfect mindset for a joke writer or staff writer. Your sense of humor takes the most thought to appreciate, but it's also the best, in my opinion.
