Boarder Babies, Abandoned Infants, and Discarded Infants
    December 2005

Often no distinction is made between the terms “boarder babies,” “abandoned infants,” and “discarded infants.” In the interest of clarity and consistency, this fact sheet will use the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS, 2001) definitions:
? Boarder babies are infants under the age of 12 months who remain in the hospital past the date of medical discharge. Boarder babies may eventually be claimed by their parents and/or be placed in alternative care.
? Abandoned infants are newborn children who are not medically cleared for hospital discharge, but who are unlikely to leave the hospital in the custody of their biological parents.
? Discarded infants are newborns who have been abandoned in public places, other than hospitals, without care or supervision.

There are many ways to help get the word out, being a MySpace friend is a great start. Having the PAN Project periodically placed in your "top friends" would be fantastic!!! Especially around a month or week involving newborns...

San Francisco State University

SFSU is a very progressive school, students are involved at many levels of community service and up on the latest social & political issues.
It made sense to use the campus as a petrie dish. What works on campus could work off campus. There are many things that can be done that will spill out into the community, for instance the library display below.

If you or your organization has developed a guerilla method of marketing let us know and we will share the information with others who are interested in doing something to help.

This was displayed at the entrance of the SFSU library from May 7th to the 18th, 2007. If you are interested in a low cost way to get the word out, consider your local lilbrary.

SFSU Student Fair

Here is our first effort at tabling, as you can see we offered Easter Eggs to paint. This fair was a week before Spring Break. Thought it was a good idea, till we got there and found out they were serving food and not what was initially advertised. So if you do tabling at a student fair, find out what theme they are doing, if they have a theme.

This is a slideshow of the common area of the Caesar Chavez Student Center. The above mentioned club offered free t-shirts & paints to those students who wanted to write something about domestic violence. SAFE placed the t-shirts on a clothes line and showed off the t-shirts. I made 2 and they are in the slideshow.
