Black Kat is one of Jamaica's most praised sound systems. Since the early 90s, the Black Kat sound has provided dancehall fans with stellar performances and sheer entertainment. The sound's presence transcends cultural and geographic boundaries, as their popularity is worldwide. At any given time, Black Kat is on tour in the U.S., Canada, Caribbean and Europe, performing before sold out crowds.

Black Kat hails from Jamaica's countryside of Christiana. The sound, led by the spirited mic-man Pink Panther and selector Yunzie, is at the top of their game. Black Kat's success is visible island-wide in Jamaica. From Christiania to Kingston and beyond, Jamaican massive respect Black Kat.

The Black Kat sound both juggles and clashes regularly through out the year. Early on, Irish and Chin, Inc. recognized Black Kat's intense clashing skills, resulting in Black Kat being booked for the renowned World Clash in 2003. From this point, Black Kat's historical clash record flourished. After a victory at World Clash New York 2003, the sound went on to capture the World Clash Jamaica “Death Before Dishonor” and U.K. Cup Clash titles in 2004.

Respectfully, Black Kat's Death Before Dishonor victory enabled Panther to accompany Jamaica's track team to the Summer Olympics in Greece. Of course, this was a first-time ever occurrence for a sound system. It still has people talkin'. Finally, Black Kat scored their fourth major victory at World Clash New York 2004 when they retained their title. So, Black Kat won four back-to-back victories.

Although not consecutive, Black Kat capped off their winnings with a victory at World Clash Canada in 2005. This final win secured Pink Panther of Black Kat with the title of the “Five Star General.” For this reason alone, Black Kat will forever be identified as a “champion” sound.
