I'm from Detroit. The Big D. I started playing music at 9 years old. My first instrument was the Trombone. At 13 I started playing bass along with the trombone. From that point on, my life would never be the same. I studied music as if my life depended on it. While in high school one of my classmates was James Jamerson Jr. Once in a while James Jamerson Sr. would come to our band class and show the us the right way to play bass. That was a blessing. After Motown moved to L.A., I was fortunate enough to start working with some of the musicians that stayed behind. Earl Van Dyke, Urel Jones, Pistol Allen, Rudy Robertson just to name a few. These musicians would eventually become famous as the Funk Brothers. This was an education that would benefit me to this day. The musicans, arrangers and producers from Motown gave me an education that is invaluable. I found myself at 17 years old doing recording session and live show with international musicians and artist.
The list of artist that I have performed and recorded with is long, you can view it at my website. www.jv-bass.com.
I would just like to say that, I have been very blessed and touch by the hand of a higher power. I think that we all have a journey that is set up for us. The trick in life is to not get in the way and mess up the plan. If you listen to your heart, that plan we show itself.
Just wanted to check in and wish you a wonderful weekend! Thanks for the support. Just added you onto my top friends list as an FYI.
Please keep in touch and thanks for everything! Moving to LA in the downtown area end of next month. Let's hook-up once I'm in town. Would like you to play in my new band I'm forming to be signed and tour, etc.
Hey man, hope you guys had a great July 4th weekend. We spent ours in Daytona, Fl. under the blazing sun and humidity. Good times. Anyway, just thought we would say hello. What's new on the calendar? You playing anywhere east of the Mississippi any time soon? Jeremy
Wishing you peace, strength, love, happiness, and serenity... Your live work with Bruce has been an inspiration on many levels for me for the past decade or more. Hope to catch you live again sometime soon!!
