None of whom we really sound like. At least I don't reckon we do.
Forming in early 2001, Paper Crane began as a four-piece from Melbourne and has spent the last 5 years playing support to bands all around Australia. Now existing as a five-piece, Paper Crane has been patiently writing and recording the debut album Dew and Cry over the past two and a half years.
Spending time recording the album with two of Australias most inspirational musicians, Marty Brown (Art of Fighting, Clare Bowditch and the Feeding Set) and Shane OMara (Rebeccas Empire, Lisa Miller, Paul Kelly), Paper Cranes recordings have been gently crafted and produced by PC guitarist Tihm Harvey. The bands sensitive taste for musical composition and arrangement is fiercely evident amongst an industry rife with caretakers, copycats and wanna-bees.
Paper Crane exists to create music that is soft, sweet, aggressive, sad, heartfelt, knowing, understated, violent, subtle and tense. The lineup consists of Jimmi Buscombe (Slipper) lead vocals, guitars; Tihm Harvey (Clare Bowditch and the Feeding Set, Hot Little Hands) guitars, vocals; Alastair Watts (Slipper, Bohjass) bass guitars, keyboards, vocals; Madeline Davey (VCA composition) keyboards, samples; Joe Hammond (Love Outside Andromeda, Slipper) drums, percussion, vocals.
Having spent much of 2004/2005 touring and playing with the likes of Love Outside Andromeda, Deloris, Red Sun Band, Epicure, Bertie Blackman and The Boatpeople, Paper Crane are now looking for industry support to help release the personally long-awaited debut album, Dew and Cry.
