....Papertrees.. is an idea that is constantly evolving. They began with Allison Polans writing, strumming a guitar, and vocalizing some songs but has now grown into a family of sounds. The core crew also consists of long-time member Alec Meltzer (drums, percussion), Phil D'Agostino (upright bass), Carl Cheeseman (electric guitar), and Nate Gonzalez (organ, keys and accordion). We've had the beautiful pleasure of performing with Deirdre Loughridge (cello) and Andrew Lipke (organ, keys) for several moons as well. We are excited for the fullness of music we can send to you in soundwaves..... Keep checking back soon for more new, full band recordings... .... People say really nice things: .... "The music that Papertrees creates has a folk vibe with a jazz-esque undertone. If that's not enough to spike your interest how about check out Allison Polans’ voice? Allison sings with such a rich timbre and warm tone that definitely makes all in earshot take notice." - Foreverlostinasong.com...... "“Feist and Jason Molina made a baby?” No, that’s not gossip from the indie rock world—that’s what local gal-with-guitar Allison Polans wrote in the “Sounds Like” section of her MySpace page. It’s actually a pretty apt summation of her music: There’s both a sophisticated, sorta-jazzy tinge to her husky voice and arrangements (that’s the Feist gene), and an affecting, world-weary vibe in her simple, folky acoustic strumming and heartsick lyrics (that’s the DNA of Molina, of Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. fame). Don’t be surprised to hear little tiny bits of Chan Marshall (aka Cat Power), PJ Harvey and Brandi Carlile in Polans’ delivery. But this growing baby seems talented enough to stand all on her own soon enough." ..(M.A.G.) - Philadelphia Weekly...... "...a budding songwriter backed by familiar faces and soon to be plagued by Cat Power comparisons." ..(Doug Wallen) - Philadelphia Weekly.. .... "If you’re looking for a good acoustic act that has no immediate plans to leave the city I speak so highly of, you should check out Allison Polans. Her music is brutally honest without making the listener feel excluded, a quality seldom encountered in the world of young musicians. With her soulful voice and addictive charm, Polans is best experienced live." ..(Jon Weiner) - CampusPhilly.org.. ...... ..Members of papertrees are also members of Hezekiah Jones, Johnny Miles, The Jesse Lundy Band, The Spinning Leaves, Suzie Brown, David Janes, Wes Mattheu & The New Way Down, and many more! It is with great pleasure to announce the release of my new acoustic album "This Is Home" which is now in selected digital and itunes stores in Belgium, Germany, UK, Canada, USA and Mexico. The main themes of "This Is Home" is of love found, love lost, past and pressent relationships. Have been said that there are a few songs that are reminiscent of my childhood which I hope my boys will be able to see through my eyes.
What makes this album different from it's predecessors is that my guitar and voice were recorded simultaneously and by doing so this enabled us to keep the recordings spontaneous and intimate. Here is the first videoclip from the album. I hope you'll enjoy it and please do share it.
Peace always,
Bai
