  • Bio

....Papertrees.. is an idea that is constantly evolving. They began with Allison Polans writing, strumming a guitar, and vocalizing some songs but has now grown into a family of sounds. The core crew also consists of long-time member Alec Meltzer (drums, percussion), Phil D'Agostino (upright bass), Carl Cheeseman (electric guitar), and Nate Gonzalez (organ, keys and accordion). We've had the beautiful pleasure of performing with Deirdre Loughridge (cello) and Andrew Lipke (organ, keys) for several moons as well. We are excited for the fullness of music we can send to you in soundwaves..... Keep checking back soon for more new, full band recordings... .... People say really nice things: .... "The music that Papertrees creates has a folk vibe with a jazz-esque undertone. If that's not enough to spike your interest how about check out Allison Polans’ voice? Allison sings with such a rich timbre and warm tone that definitely makes all in earshot take notice." - Foreverlostinasong.com...... "“Feist and Jason Molina made a baby?” No, that’s not gossip from the indie rock world—that’s what local gal-with-guitar Allison Polans wrote in the “Sounds Like” section of her MySpace page. It’s actually a pretty apt summation of her music: There’s both a sophisticated, sorta-jazzy tinge to her husky voice and arrangements (that’s the Feist gene), and an affecting, world-weary vibe in her simple, folky acoustic strumming and heartsick lyrics (that’s the DNA of Molina, of Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. fame). Don’t be surprised to hear little tiny bits of Chan Marshall (aka Cat Power), PJ Harvey and Brandi Carlile in Polans’ delivery. But this growing baby seems talented enough to stand all on her own soon enough." ..(M.A.G.) - Philadelphia Weekly...... "...a budding songwriter backed by familiar faces and soon to be plagued by Cat Power comparisons." ..(Doug Wallen) - Philadelphia Weekly.. .... "If you’re looking for a good acoustic act that has no immediate plans to leave the city I speak so highly of, you should check out Allison Polans. Her music is brutally honest without making the listener feel excluded, a quality seldom encountered in the world of young musicians. With her soulful voice and addictive charm, Polans is best experienced live." ..(Jon Weiner) - CampusPhilly.org.. ...... ..Members of papertrees are also members of Hezekiah Jones, Johnny Miles, The Jesse Lundy Band, The Spinning Leaves, Suzie Brown, David Janes, Wes Mattheu & The New Way Down, and many more! Be sure to check those bands out too! Papertrees is always looking for more shows so we can crowd your stage and make you smile... .... papertrees (and Allison solo) has shared the stage with many wonderful folks such as Hezekiah Jones, Sweetheart Parade, Mark Silver, Mason Porter, Sisters 3, The Great Unknown, The Spinning Leaves, Roomtone, Elevator Parade, Nicole Atkins & The Sea, April Smith & The Great Picture Show, Devin Greenwood, Hoots & Hellmouth, Kind of Like Spitting, Frida Hyvonen, The Feverfew, Andrew Lipke, Amy Pickard, Rarebirds, Bettie Seervert, This Radiant Boy, Early Day Miners, Alphabet Army, Shelley Short, Wes Mattheu and The New Way Down, Hop Along Queen Ansleis, Franzschubert, Kristi Rae, Adam Arcuragi, Walker Lundee, Phonograph, Cowmuddy, The New Time, Natalie Walker, Caught in Motion, Quintero AND MORE!.... ....*************************************************************** ..Amazing News::: Brat Productions & rock bands: Toothless George, Devin Greenwood, Franzschubert, Danny McKane, & Allison Polans (papertrees) have won the 2007 Barrymore Award for The Ted and Stevie Wolf Award For New Approaches to Collaborations!!!!!!! .. *************************************************************************************.......... *For booking inquiries please email: PAPERTREESMUSIC@GMAIL.COM...... ..........View Papertrees's EPK.......... .... .... .... ..

It is with great pleasure to announce the release of my new acoustic album "This Is Home" which is now in selected digital and itunes stores in Belgium, Germany, UK, Canada, USA and Mexico. The main themes of "This Is Home" is of love found, love lost, past and pressent relationships. Have been said that there are a few songs that are reminiscent of my childhood which I hope my boys will be able to see through my eyes.
What makes this album different from it's predecessors is that my guitar and voice were recorded simultaneously and by doing so this enabled us to keep the recordings spontaneous and intimate. Here is the first videoclip from the album. I hope you'll enjoy it and please do share it.

    Peace always,

    Bai

    Hi there Papertrees

If you could help us get into the Top 50 by voting for our 2 songs and also spreading the word to your other Facebook friends that would be super cool!

Here’s how it works: "No sign ups required!!!"

Go to www.facebook.com/CatapultSongContest from your Facebook and “like” their page

Click on “Songs and Voting” then click on “Live Songs and Voting”

Search our band name : Dogwood Crossing

Then when you find it, select the song and click “I vote for this song”

After you’ve voted you’ll also be able to invite all your friends to vote for our songs too!
And if you’re in the mood for some serious supporting, you could post a link on your Facebook wall or any other social media site you’re a member of..
