   About Parade the Musical
The musical concerns the 1913 trial of Jewish factory manager Leo Frank who was accused of raping and murdering a 13 year old employee, Mary Phagan. The trial, sensationalized by the media, aroused anti-Semitic tensions in Atlanta and the state of Georgia. When Frank's sentence was commuted due to possible problems with the trial and he was transferred to a prison in Milledgeville, Georgia, a lynching party broke him out of the prison. Frank was taken to Phagan's hometown of Marietta, Georgia, and he was hanged.

The emotional backbone of the show is how Leo and his wife, Lucille, discover a deep love for each other out of what was essentially an arranged marriage. A listener can hear their relationship shift from cold to warm in songs like "Leo at Work/What am I Waiting For?," "You Don't Know This Man," and, in Act II, "Do it Alone," and "All the Wasted Time".

The show also doesn't shy away from making it clear that the likely killer was the African-American drifter Jim Conley, though the real villains of the piece are prosecutor Hugh Dorsey and rabid publisher Tom Watson.

Thank you all for a wonderful summer of Pain 10!!! This ten years of Pain, summer of Pain is finally over, as summer winds down and leaves turn brown. We want to personally thank each and every one of you for all your support and encouragement at the shows, in the Cruefest Voting, at Cruefest, on the radio and for ten and a half years of rocking with us. We were anticipating co-headlining the Atomic City Jam next weekend but others failed to keep their word to the promotional team of Juan and Annie, so the event was cancelled. So, After 7 straight weeks at it, we finally get a bittersweet weekend off. Although we won't be playing live, we will be getting the opportunity to share the ideas James, Tom, Todd and I have been writing and hopefully bounce enough ideas for a soon to be released DVD/CD with three new tunes, the live at 94rock tunes, the cruefest set and some bonus live footage with all your beautiful voices and faces in it!!! Additionally, and more importantly, Starting next Sunday Sept 6th, you can vote for us in the National competition of the Cruefest2 Winning bands, in which we hope to proudly represent New Mexico through your love and Support, as always. Beginning Next Sat night at midnight go to http://cruefest2.monsterenergy.com or check out our website www.travelerinpain.com and www.myspace.com/travelerinpain for more info and let the games begin...

Would love to see the show sometime .
It sounds very entertaining especially being a Phagan
My son Josh is a song writer and musician living in New Orleans and Myrtle Beach. We told him about Mary Phagan last year and he wrote a song that he now has on his My Space. He had not heard of the original song at the time, just what he had read on the internet.
