Wired on coffee and deprived of sleep, I sketch on 8.5" x 11" plain white HP laser jet printer paper with the sound of remixed video game music blasting through 4 Creative Labs satellite speakers and the sub woofer that doubles as the stand for my chipped Lazerhippo coffee mug. The wall just to my right is covered in framed artwork given to me by friends of mine, most of whom design webcomics as I do. Well, not quite as I do, I feel they're more talented than I am, but that just gives me a mark to shoot for.
The Minibosses are playing now as I burn through another kneaded eraser. No worries, I have more sitting just within reach atop the Yamaha PSR-GX76 I sometimes use with various music software and my Fender Strat to create music which is often geeky, but always full of feeling, because rocking out is important. If you haven't tried it, you really ought to. Rocking out, I mean.
The kneaded erasers aren't alone. In fact, the Yamaha's keys are barely visible beneath stacks of manga, pages of old artwork, a few old convention guest badges, more art supplies, a USB cable, and piles of receipts, plane tickets, and tax forms. I hate taxes. I like good roads though. Oh, look, my new Gameboy SP box is on the keyboard too. That sucker has one bright screen.
After a while. Winamp pumps out something cool by Virt and I'm finishing up the last touches in Photoshop for this week's comic. It's late, and I've been up for about 25 hours, but I know that I'm going to need to come up with a news post as well. I'll make something cool up' I think I wanted to talk about Gradius this week I'll go to sleep at 6 AM and get up around noon, drink coffee, spend some time terrified about whether I'll make rent or not, consider living out of cardboard box near the Applegeeks only to realize that it's hard to install wireless broadband in a cardboard box. Screw that, time to get back to comicing.
Seriously, though, I should have been a space pirate.
