CINEMA 8 NEWS

JULY MOVIES BLAZING WITH GANGSTERS, SORCERERS, AND FUNNY PEOPLE !

Hello everyone! The month of July has arrived, which fireworks, grilling food, swimming, and watching hot action films! July still contains several summer blockbuster for all ages and almost every genre. We have two movie premieres for this month for Ice Age 3 and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Ice Age will be showing July 1, Wednesday morning, at 10:00 a.m. as a "Special Family Premiere". The movie great is for all ages and admission is only $4.00 for the morning show. Awesome deal, right!? Anyways, the premiere for the next Harry Potter film will be at midnight on July 15 (Tuesdays night/Wednesday morning). Come dressed-up as your favorite character for possible prizes to win.

Expect a lot of fun stuff and good deals arriving this summer. We are planning our new "Summer Kids Show Series". We have a lot of people request the event, and we want to provide for you once again! If you don't know what the "Summer Kids Show Series" is, then let us briefly explain. The "Summer Kids Series" runs every Wednesdays morning at 10:00a.m. to watch older movies (Ice Age 1 & 2, Happy Feet, Alvin and the Chipmunks) for only $2.00! Everyone can join the fun for a cheap way to watch your family films on the big screen again. We will have our schedule posted for this series soon on our website at paragouldcinema.com.

So now let's talk about the July movies. First two movies arriving on July 1 are Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Public Enemies. Ice Age is the third installment, which has all the original cast from the last two films and introducing new characters to make even more entertaining. Instead of the Ice Age ending, the animals now have to face Dinosaurs. They discovered they are not extinct, and have to find new ways to cope with them. It's hilarious film with a lovable cast. Public Enemies stars Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean Series) as the villan and Christian Bale (The Dark Knight and Terminator Salvation) as the hero. The story is set as the Feds try to take down notorious American gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd during a booming crime wave in the 1930s. The movie is based on a true story. Critics are already talking about great of a film this is with Johnny Depp's performance. So if you love gangster films, you should definitely check this one out!

The second weekend contains Sacha Baron Cohen's new film, Bruno, and Hayden Panittiere's I Love You Beth Cooper. Bruno is one of Cohen's character from his hit show from the U.K. and HBO. He is getting a wider release with this character because Borat(2007) was a box-office hit. His new film follows same the concept, getting into funny predicaments with real world people and see how hilarious he make it, but with a flamboyant Austrian fashionist who takes his show to America. This comedic film will keep you on the edge of your and holding your stomach from all the laughter. The other movie, I Love You Beth Cooper targeted toward teen and young-adult audiences. A nerdy valedictorian proclaims his love for the hottest and most popular girl in school – Beth Cooper (Panettiere) – during his graduation speech. Much to his surprise, Beth shows up at his door that very night and decides to show him the best night of his life. The trailer is very funny, and seems to be Panettire's best comedic performance yet.

The third weekend only has one movie. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince get their own weekend. Plus, the movie is opening on a Wednesday. It is the sixth film based on the book. The movie looks amazing, dark, and action packed. This film is rated PG unlike the previous two, which were PG-13. I guess Warner Bros. decided to tone it down and make it more kid friendly. If you have not read the book, the basic plot is while at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he discovers an old book marked mysteriously "This book is the property of the Half-Blood Prince" and begins to learn more about Lord Voldemort's dark past. If you decide to watch the movie opening night or weekend, it is best to get your tickets in advance and arrive early for goods. We expect the movie sell out often for its first week.

For the fourth weekend, Disney's G-Force and Sony's The Ugly Truth will play. G-Force is the story of specially trained squad of guinea pigs dispatched to stop a diabolical billionaire from taking over the world. The film is family-oriented with several comedic scenes. Nicholas Cage, Sam Rockwell, and Penelope Cruz lend their voices for this film. If you are more in the mood for a nice date night, then have no fear. We have you covered. Check out the romantic comedy, The Ugly Truth. The film stars Katherine Heigl(Grey's Anatomy) and Gerard Butler(P.S. I Love You, 300). A romantically challenged morning show producer (Heigl) is reluctantly embroiled in a series of outrageous tests by her chauvinistic correspondent (Butler) to prove his theories on relationships and help her find love. His clever ploys, however, lead to an unexpected result. You should watch the film to see what happens. We believe you will enjoy it.

Finally, the fifth weekend has Aliens in the Attic and Funny People. Aliens in the Attic (used to be called They came from upstairs) stars Ashley Tisdale(High School Musical Series) and Robert Hoffman(Step Up 2). In Maine, a group of kids must protect their vacation home from invading aliens. The film is target towards all ages and should especially be entertaining for families and teens. In opposition, you can watch the R-rated comedy, Funny People. The movie is directed by Judd Apatow(40 Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up), which means it should be really good if you like his work. If that does not get you interested, then check out the cast: Adman Sandler, Seth Rogan, Eric Bana, Jonah Hill, Leslie Mann, Jason Schwartzmen, Sarah Silverman, and Norm MacDonald. The comedy is about a seasoned comedian George Simmons (Sandler) learns of his terminal, inoperable health condition, his desire to form a genuine friendship cause him to take a relatively green performer under his wing as his opening act. The movie is a little more over a drama, but critics and fans love his work. We expect it be a great dramedy.

That is all from us for the monthly incite for the July films. We hope to see you soon for the premieres and shows. Have a happy 4th of July and enjoy the shows!
