PRESS RELEASE 27/02/08 ////////// Eddie Argos (Art Brut singer) and David Devant spearhead this Summer’s Glam Rock revival ////////// Art Brut front man Eddie Argos has formed what he describes as an ‘orthodox glam rock outfit’ who will be playing a show co-headlining with Let’s Wrestle at London’s Buffalo Bar next Saturday (8th). The group will go under the moniker Paranoid Dog Bark for one night only, before, according to Argos’s blog, giving that name “back to its original owners” and changing it, possibly to Glam Chops.////////// Also in the group, Mikey Georgeson (aka David Devant / The Vessel / Mr Solo), Stephen Gilchrist (Graham Coxon’s drummer) and members of hotly tipped indie band Mortgage! Paranoid Dog Bark treat the tradition of Glam Rock with both respect and disdain, ripping up the glam rock rulebook and rewriting it for the day-glo, txtspk, barmy crowd generation, their stage attire is glittery suits, platform shoes, make up,.. and they do all the necessary synchronized stage stomping, Argos playing an electric guitar tuned to an E chord, purely so he can partake in the choreographed guitaresthenics. Live they appear with Bath’s sensational dance troupe The Panthergirls, dancing and joining in on the parts where everyone shouts out “Hey!” ////////// Next Saturday’s show is billed as ‘a warm up for the European Festivals’.

ARTROCKER REVIEW APRIL 2OO8
Let's Wrestle/Glam Chops/
- Buffalo Bar- 8 March
"What comes next could not have been foretold, expected
or even guessed at. We all knew the rumours; that Eddie Argos was performing with some kind of side-project, and that he was the only member of Art Brut in said project. But that was all we knew. We didn't know that he was going to wear a Vegas-era Elvis suit, split open at the front to his belly button. We didn't know he was going to play guitar. We didn't know that Stuffy, of Fuses fame, was in the band. We didn't know that there would be dancing girls. We didn't know that the band would begin the set as Paranoid Dog Bark, only to change their name by the end of it to Glam chops. And how could we have known that the songs would be joyful, jokey glam-rock juggernauts, poking each audience member in the ribs with their lack of self-conscious seriousness?
The band has literally only been going for about two weeks. the first song for the set, which could well be called 'Festivals', or 'the Festival song', seems to contain only the lyrics, 'We're playing all the European festivals." The second, simply ' Tell me when you're ready, Eddie." All backed by a kind of Sweet-esque (not to say, whisper it, Gary glitter-like) driving drum pattern. this band is high on glam, low on lyrics. Wouldn't miss it for the world, though. And neither should you." .....Richard Davis
About GLAM CHOPS (Eddie Argos [Art Brut] / David Devant)
Having played their debut gig at Guided Missile Club in March 2008 (under the moniker Paranoid Dog Bark), Glam Chops have emerged as front runners of this year's glam rock revival, and the group is currently in negotiations to headline the main stage at next year's Glastonbury, Eavis sticking to his original response of he'll "see how it goes". Inbetween times, the groups members can be seen performing in various side projects such as David Devant & His Spirit Wife and Art Brut. Live, they appear with the sensational Panthergirls. Glam Chops are available for gigs / festivals throughout 2008. You can book us via this page. Make sure Art Brut are not playing on the night you want to book us, of course. We are an orthodox Glam Rock outfit.
Hey chops, great show at Moles & a top day out! Quote of the day from Eddie "I never thought listening to David Devant as a teenager all those years ago, I'd end up in a bunker somewhere just outside of Bath duetting with him on a cover of Born In The USA over a glam-rock backing track!" Amazin'. XXXX
