Par-City: Par = Rap in reverse. Par-City was founded by three men who love their city and love Hip-Hop. These three members are Anti, Prolif, and Will Nasty. Each member brings something different to the table because of there different tastes in music. Whatever it is you like you'll find in this group, from punchlines to catchy hooks, party tracks to tracks for the ladies, from street hop to backpack music, Par-City is about every aspect of the Hip-Hop culture. All three members are from the Bronx in New York City. Par-City's a Movement, feel free to hop on the bandwagon. If you want to directly reach Par-City for any tracks, drops, or interviews, email ParCityMusic@aol.com
Will Nasty: Born Eric Pettaway in The Bronx, NY. Will got the name Will Nasty from being told "you look like Will Smith" when he was younger. Will first started listening to R&B in the early 90s by his Mother playing different R&B tapes like Xscape and Mary J. Blige. Towards the mid 90s started listening to more and more hip-hop, artist such as Notorious BIG, Jay-Z, Puff Daddy and Mase. As he grew older, his taste in music grew as well. In the early 2000, Will started listening to different genres such as pop, punk rock, and reggae. Will started writing rhymes back in 1999 after chilling with one of his then best friends. Will's friend would always be freestyling and tell him to listen to this artist and that artist, and as he listened, he became more and more involved with the music. "I started feeling more and more like nobody was paying attention to me in the world, when my best friends turned their backs on me, music helped me get through that time and i started writing as a way to vent and make my voice heard." Will has what he calls a Northern/Southern influence. His family is from the south, so he listens to alot of southern hip-hop; but because he was born and raised in The Bronx, he also listens to alot of "East Coast" hip-hop. "I rank southern artist right up there with northern artist, Jay-Z right next to Ludacris. Alot of people sleep on the south because its not all "gangbang" music or whatever, but if you listen to many of the artist, the lyricism is there." Because of this, Will has a unique flow that showcases both the southern and northern influence, and he proudly reps the north and south because of this. Now attending the CW Post campus of Long Island University, looking to get a degree in Broadcasting, Will Nasty is still on his musical grind. Check out his personal Myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/wnasty and keep up to date with his thoughts and opinions about random stuff in his world by checking out his (almost) daily blog, "THE SHOW STOPPA".
Prolif the Gift: Born Brian Walcott in the Bronx, NY. For as long as he can remember, Prolif has been listening to some form of hip hop. Despite his aunt and mother's attempts to stop him from listening, Prolif at the age of 5 always found a way to immerse himself rap music. "I can still remember waiting till my aunt, who'd babysit me afterschool, was out of the room and then turn the tv to 'Video Music Box.'"
As far as lyricism goes, his first encounter came one day on the school bus when his friend Lawrence (of For Better Days Ent.) was freestyling.
"It was Lawrence, Anthony (Anti) and a few older dudes freestylin and i was always their hypeman. One day Lawrence decided to pass the 'mic' to me. i was about 7 and didn't kno what to say; i just tried to come up wit somethin that rhymed. Needless to say it was terrible, but they gave me a good reaction anyway and it felt good being center stage."
Although he doesn't claim to be the best freestyler, these days, Prolif has gained a reputation for being a skillful writer. His lyrics are clever, humorous and at times thought provoking.
"I don't feel like NY hip hop is at its best right now. I wanna bring reality back to it. Not everyone is a super thug triple OG. So i rap for the thugs and the normal people who got those big dreams, but at same time gotta live their life."
Prolif currently co-hosts "The Lockdown" radio show along with Will Nasty every Friday night from 10 to 1 on WEBRADIOWCWP.org, and is a broadcasting major at CW Post, Long Island University. You can contact him anytime on AIM at BigHustle233 or http://www.myspace.com/pr0lif_da_gift
Anti: Born Anthony O'Neill Walcott. From an early age, Anti was introduced to the world of rap/hip hop and r&B in the late 80s to the early 90's , through his older sister. Often times she would watch, tape, and listen to 'Video Music Box', 'Rap City', along with commonly known New York radio stations. Amongst his sisters and cousins, Anti would often help to choreograph dances to different songs, which would later be performed at social gatherings. Anti had a deeper appreciation for music through his studies of music and the piano, and also listening to his parents and family members play calypso, soca, reggae, jazz and other older music. In the late 90's, Anti's love for hip hop rapidly increased. "I was mesmorized by the smooth flow of hip hop poetry, the flashiness, the growth of hip hop in NYC and of course, the shiny suits." To indulge in the music profession, Anti began writing lyrics, "club hopping", and going to studios to assist with music production and engineering. "I don't even need all of the fame and fortune, I just want to be a part of hip hop, show my love for hip hop, like the movie 'Brown Sugar'," (he laughs). Presently, Anti is busy working, trying to get Par-City to the top of the hip hop game. He can be networked at http://www.myspace.com/1anti
