    Parents’ Choice's Interests
General

Safety is on everyone's mind this year. In an unscientific but telling survey of our readers, toy safety is at the top of parents' holiday wish list. Yes, there is reason to be concerned. Parents' Choice advises doing some simple but crucial homework before buying gifts for the holidays. Check the CPSC list of recalled products; sign up for their email notifications. The Toy Industry Association has launched a website and toll free number to address consumers' concerns about the safety of toys currently on the shelves. Stores large and small, as well as manufacturers have information about toy safety, product recalls, as well as their policies about returning recalled toys. Safety organizations suggests routinely inspecting your children's toy inventory for loose or broken parts and sharp edges.

The bottom line? Don't panic. Be informed before you buy. Read the package. Pay attention to the age recommendations. If a product's package says it's not safe for children under three, it isn't. Stay interested. Concern about product safety should continue throughout the year.

Our 2007 Holiday Guide has a fresh new look. We've combed through lists of Parents' Choice Award winners and organized them by areas of interest, and ages. If you still can't find a suggestion that strikes your fancy, try our handy Product Finder. You'll be able to search using a variety of criteria.

Don't overlook Books, Music, and Magazines. They make wonderful gifts. And for the artistic or ambitious, read our suggestions for gifts kids can make.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season.

About me:
www.Parents-Choice.org

Established in 1978, Parents’ Choice Foundation is the nation's oldest nonprofit consumer guide to quality children's books, videos, toys, audios, computer software, television, and magazines. For almost three decades, the Foundation has administered the Parents’ Choice Awards,,, the benchmark of achievement in children’s media. Identifying the best products for children of different ages, backgrounds, skills and interests, The Parents' Choice Awards program recommends products that help kids grow – imaginatively, physically, morally and mentally – fairly priced products that are fun, safe and socially sound.

Parents’ Choice recommends toys with staying power, books with honesty and integrity of characters, illustration of elegance and imagination, music that families can sing together, storytelling that teaches us lessons from lands and cultures close and far away, magazines that do not mask editorial content in advertising, television that teaches with civility and not chaos, and software and videogames that encourage sharpening skills not leveling landscapes.

For more information, please visit Parents' Choice online at www.parentschoice.org

Rough MIX of Michael Darby's first children's song! The song is about children not picking on each other! : ) This is the song that will kick off his world radio tour for the youth! : ) It will also be the song that celebrates "The One Million Letters Book". "The One Million Letters Book" consist of one million children writing one million letters on how they are going change the world and make it a better place. The book will also include letters from all 50 Governors and the President of the United States. The goal of this book is to help children find the best part of who they can be! If you have children or little brothers and sisters we encourage you to have them go to www. michaeldarbyandsmile. com and submit their letters on how they are going to change the world! : ) Just click on "The One Million Letters Book" icon and it will give you really easy directions on how to submit their letters. There are people out there right now that have lost hope. They need to know that things are going to get better. What better way to show them by giving them the opportunity to listen to our youth. A message from Michael,"To all the children that listen to my music, I need you to promise me something! I need you to promise me that no matter how hard life gets you will never forget how special you are. Everyone of you has a purpose. Everyone of you has a destiny. All you need is a little hope and a little faith, and you will come to realize you are just one dream away from changing the world."

Sincerely,
