   About parhelion

Music is Order.
Out of the void
Out of chaos
the creative spirit
moving over the face
of the waters.
Out of the random a rule
Out of darkness a light
Out of multitude and muchness
integrity,
the one entire whole and holy.
- Nick Jones

Parhelion is the result of many hours spent in the recording studio experimenting with various musical concepts. The inspiration for this endeavor was indirectly sparked by an idea I was developing with my band Tunturia (tunturia) and which has since morphed into this side-project. My goal is the musical exploration of solipsism syndrome, specifically dealing with how environment is conducive to state of mind. As a theory solipsism states that everything perceived is in an individual's imagination and that there is no reality outside of one's own mind. Environment plays a key role in affecting 'state of mind' and as my interest with the arctic grew I became more and more interested in investigating the parallel between that environment and individual perception with reference to such things as isolation, void and space. On a less philosophical level these compositions are simply works inspired by the grandeur and harsh beauty of arctic terrain. There is something both dreadful and magnificent about the vast north and these works are but an attempt at capturing that feeling of awe and wonder. My goal is to complete an entire album on this theme. As this is an ongoing side-project I don’t know when I will finish all of the intended work, but the inspiration is there so it will likely only be a matter of time.

"I am a religious person...and by 'religion' I mean re-ligio, the re-tying of a bond...restoring the legato of life. Life divides man into many pieces...There is no weightier occupation than the recomposition of spiritual integrity through the composition of music." - Sofia Gubaidulina

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"...hidden behind the art of connecting two or three notes lies a cosmic mystery." - Arvo Pärt

“Art is implicit in nature, and whoever can extract it has it.” - Albrecht Dürer

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

it [is] much better to insist on the genuine forms of nature, for simplicty is the greatest adornment of art." - Albrecht Dürer

The launch of the first in history man-made sputnik was held on 4th October 1957. This day is considered to be the beginning of the mankind space era. The first man-made sputnik was placed into orbit by a rocket vehicle from Baikonur spaceport. A radio beacon was installed on a board of sputnik for monitoring the flight and carrying out an investigation.

New full length 'Sleep Paralysis' out now...

"The last Ekca CD blew my face off and we gave it album of the week... We sold out in a day!! Here is his proper follow up album called Sleep Paralysis on the Dead Pilot label. The album lulls you into a false sense of security with the opener being a warm floaty drone track sucking you into it's niceness before track two ('Ceiling Ghosts')comes in with some dark droney forboding pulsing fuzz which will have you caked in fecal fun. It's intense stuff alright. the production is amazing and it becomes completely clear on 'Heavy Weather' where some backwards guitar intertwines with some melodic electronics to stunning effect. Later in the track some thunderously loud drums come in and it's starting to remind me a of track from Boards of Canada's Geogaddi. That is until the walls of guitars which have slowly built up hit you in the face like a hammer shapped fist. The whole album has a dark feel to it.... like there's some evil presence hanging around. I think fans of Sunn O))), Utech etc will like this as there's a metal influence in there lurking 'n all. It's a damned special album! Comes in a diecut cardboard gatefold sleeve limited to 250 copies! CD only!!"

Greetings

Thank you and welcome...

“Behind closed eyes, colors fade and blend into beautiful new creations. Fate is left at the shaking hands of our imaginations. Places new and amazing, faces remain unseen. How, then, does our heart feel as if racing in the anticipation of a dream?”
