I was born and raised in a small town in Northern Ireland and have been subjected to every genre of music since an early age. I’d say I have a pretty eclectic taste in music for a child of the eighties! I’ve always done everything I could to be involved in music as much as possible, from playing the flute as I grew up to singing a tune whenever one enters my head. I will complete my degree in Music Production and Engineering at Berklee College of Music in Boston after summer ’07. I love everything I’ve learned about the technical sides of producing music, but more that anything else I love to perform. My exposure to many genres has offered me experience in everything from Irish traditional to funk, and at the moment I am drifting more towards jazz, blues and folk. I am very influenced by Joni Mitchell and Carol King, and have recently been inspired by Polly Paulusma and Martha Tilston. I also love world music and the mixing of genres and traditional sounds. I am half Persian and feel there is such a mix inside me and I am interested in bringing the diversity within me into my music.
I would like to thank Vincent Chung for giving me the opportunity to record 'Rolling Home' and taking it in such an interesting direction. I would like to thank Kent Moore for engineering and producing 'Time', and Adam Comstock for mixing it. And lastly, Colum Sands of Spring Studios for recording 'Fire and Rain'. What would I do without such good friends! :)
All lyrics by Parisa Roohipour, except 'Fire and Rain' written by James Taylor.
