About me: 2009 Day of Caring - Volunteers with PAWS of NE Louisiana came out on Saturday, May 9th to paint, install misting hoses for the dogs, organize and do some general cleaning up. We appreciate their hard work and want to say THANKS from the employees and all of the shelter animals!
The Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter is located at 417 Well Road in West Monroe, LA. We are a governmental agency under the Ouachita Parish Police Jury. We accept strays and owner turn-ins during our regular hours of operation. Please consider ALL options before relinquishing your pet to us. We can take in 30 or more animals on any given DAY so it is not possible to put them all up for adoption. We took in 9,161 dogs and cats last year. PLEASE spay and neuter your pets so we can reduce these numbers...

IT IS A LAW IN LOUISIANA THAT ANY ANIMAL ADOPTED FROM A SHELTER MUST BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED! The shelter provides the spay/neuter certificate at the time of the adoption so that you can have this done. Please don't break the law or help contribute to the pet overpopulation problem in our parish. SPAY OR NEUTER YOUR NEW PET AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Some of these sad faces pictured below had very tough lives before arriving at our shelter. BUT EACH ONE OF THEM HAS FOUND A NEW HOME. Many others were not so lucky. PLEASE CHOOSE TO ADOPT WHEN YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW PET!

Thanks for the add.. Just wanted to say me and my boyfriend adopted 181 Green (female German Shepard) whose name is Baby now. She is a wonderful dog and loves us just as much as we love her. We can't wait to be able to adopt again in the future.. Thank you for all the work you guys do to save these dogs. Keep up the good work..
That is too too funny! I love kitty kittys...I have tried to find one for my long hair chihuahua (she loves cats) and they all have been mean to her because she lovessss to play!
